Doç. Dr. M. Haluk TÜRKDEMİR Tekstil endüstrisi atık sulan, organik madde yükünün yanı sıra renklenmeye yol açan boyar maddeler nedeniyle önemli çevre sorunlarına yol açabilmektedir. Tekstil atık sularının atıksu kalitesinin iyileştirilmesinde elektrokimyasal atık işlemleri giderek daha çok uygulama bulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, pamuklu tekstil endüstrisinde sık kullanılan İndigo Mavisi ve Remazol Turkuaz Mavisi boyalarının sulu çözeltileri ve indigo boyası içeren tekstil fabrikası atık suyunun elektrokimyasal yükseltgeme süreciyle renginin giderimi ve bu sırada baza atık su kirlilik parametrelerinin ne ölçüde iyileştirilebileceği gösterilmeye çalışıldı. Bu amaçla, uygulanan elektroliz işlemine; pH, elektriksel yük, süre, elektrot türü, elektrolit türü, hücre tipi ve elektrolit derişimi gibi çalışma parametrelerinin etkileri araştırıldı. Deneyler sırasında atıksu ve boya çözeltilerinin renk giderim süreci, hem çıplak gözle hem de bir UV-VIS spektrofotometresi ile izlendi. Atıksu ve boya çözeltilerinin KOİ değerlerindeki değişimler standart yöntemlerle belirlendi. Ayrıca çevrimsel voltametri ve İR spektroskopisi gibi teknikler kullanılarak boyar maddelerde elektrokimyasal yıkım süreci esnasında meydana gelen yapısal değişim mekanizmaları aydınlatılmaya çalışıldı. Deneysel çalışmalar; klorürün elektrokimyasal yıkını dışında hipoklorür oluşumuna bağlı olarak dolaylı kimyasal yıkıma da olanak sağladığı için en uygun destek elektrolit olduğunu göstermiştir. Bir saatten kısa süren makul süreli elektrokimyasal süreç sonunda Pt-kafes anot bölmesindeki renk, tersinmez biçimde tamamen ortadan kaldınlabüdi ve bu sırada sulu ortamın geçen toplam yüke bağlı olarak KOİ değerinde çok önemli ölçüde iyileşme sağlanabildi Literatürde belirtilenin aksine, ultrasonifikasyon işleminin elektrokimyasal sürece önemli bir katkısı olmadığı gözlendi Boyar maddelerin renginin gideriminde elektrokimyasal işlemin, önemli bir yatırım ve işletme maliyeti gerektirmeksizin endüstriyel düzeyde bir ön arındırma işlemi olarak kullanılabileceği gösterildi. Prof. Dr. M. Haluk TÜRKDEMÎR Textile industry wastewaters, beacuse of their high organic matter content and colorization due to pigments they contain, can cause to serious environmental problems. In remediation of their wastewater quality, electrochemical waste treatemerits are gradually finding more application. In this study, decolorization of aqueous solutions of Indigo and Remazol Turquoise Blue dyes which are often used in cotton textile industry and indigo dye containing textile wastewater by electrochemical oxidation process was explored and meanwhile to what degree some of the wastewater pollution parameters could be remediated was tried to be demonstrated. For this purpose operating parameters such as pH, electrical charge, time, type of electrode, electrolyte, cell type and electrolyte concentration have been investigated for their influences on the electrolysis process that carried out. During the experiments the decolorization process of the wastewater and dye solutions was observed both with the naked eye and with a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Alterations in COD values of the dye solutions and wastewater were determined with the standart methods. Furthermore, the cyclic voltammetry and IR-spectroscopy techniques were used in order to explain the mechanisms of structural changes take place in die aqueous solutions of dyes during the electrochemical degradation process. Experimental results showed that because chloride except electrochemical degradation, provided an indirect chemical degradation depending on hypochlorite generation was the best suitable supporting electrolyte during electrolysis. In the end of electrochemical process that took less than one hour, a reasonable time, color in the Pt- cage electrode anode compartment could have been removed irreversibly and entirely, and during this time depending on the total electrical charge passed, a considerable amout of remediation in the COD value of the aqueous medium could have been obtained. Contrary to the literatür cited, it was observed that ultrasonification process haven't had any important contribution to the electrochemical treatement process. It was shown that in removing of color of dyeing solutions, electrochemical process could be used as a pretreatement stage at the industrial level without requiring any important amount of investment and cost.
