Enflasyon ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi: Türkiye ekonomisi üzerine ekonometrik bir uygulama (1988-2007)

Abstract

Price stability in conjunction with economic growth are the main goals of the economic policy. Put another way, such these goals are prerequisites of increasing the welfare of the society. Especially after the second half of 1970s, these prerequisites were not eventuated up to the mark in Turkey. In this context, determining the relationship between inflation and economic growth in Turkey was intended in this study. Quarterly data during (1988:1-2007:4) period and bounds test method used to display the goal of the study and found that negative relationship between inflation rates which is calculated by CPI (Consumer Price Index) and economic growth both in short and long run.

Fiyat istikrarı ile birlikte ekonomik büyümenin gerçekleştirilmesi iktisat politikasının en temel amaçlarından birisini oluşturmaktadır. Diğer bir deyişle, bu iki amaç bir toplumdaki refah artışının en önemli ön koşullarını oluşturmaktadır. Özellikle 1970’li yılların ikinci yarısından itibaren yüksek enflasyon ve düşük bir ekonomik büyüme performansı sergileyen Türkiye’de ise bu ön koşulların istenilen düzeyde gerçekleştirilemediği gözlenmektedir. Bu doğrultuda hazırlanan çalışmada ise Türkiye’de enflasyon ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amacın ortaya konulması için (1988:1-2007:4) dönemi çeyrek dönem verileri ile sınır testi yöntemi kullanılmıştır ve TÜFE’ye göre hesaplanan enflasyon oranları ile ekonomik büyüme arasında hem kısa dönemde hem de uzun dönem de negatif yönlü bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
