(p<0,01). Dikey sıçrama ve anaerobik güç değerleri erkek öğrencilerde önemli miktarda
yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0,01). FVC ve FEV1 değerleri ile antropometrik özellikler arasında
her iki grupta önemli ilişki bulunmuştur.
The purpose of this study was to examine various respiratory parameters and biomotoric
properties in high school students who take part in school teams and train in different
sports. Thirty six female and thirty eight male, in total seventy-four students volunteered to participate in the study. FVC, FEV1, PEF, FEF25-75 and MVV measurements were taken to
determine the respiratory function. The bio-motoric properties were evaluated by right and
left hand grip strength, vertical jumping height, and anaerobic power. A statistically
significant difference was determined for all respiration parameters (FVC, FEV1, PEF, FEF25-
75% ve MVV), except FEV1/FVC, between female and male students (p<0.01). The vertical
jumping height and anaerobic power values were determined to be significantly higher in
male students (p<0.01). A statistically significant relationship was determined in both groups
between the FVC and the FEV1 values and anthropometric properties. There are studies that
put forth the positive effects of exercise programs on the respiratory functions of individuals
who have not yet completed their developments as well as studies that state the contrary. In
conclusion, a statistically significant difference in favor of male children was determined in
terms of the respiratory and bio-motoric properties examined in this study. This difference
may be explained by hormonal changes, especially the increased release of testosterone in
boys that occur due to sexual maturity, and by the increase in physical properties such as
height and body weight.
