Küreselleşen dünyada ulusların varlığını sürdürmeleri, çağın gereklerini yakalamanın ötesinde diğer uluslardan bir adım önde olmayı gerektirmektedir. Günümüzde, çalışma yaşamının sürekli değişen ve hızla akıp giden temposuna ayak uydurma çabası, birey ve örgüt üzerinde yalnızca fizyolojik değil; psikolojik sorunlar da yaratmaktadır. Bu sorunlardan biri de bireyin yaşadığı baskı ve gerginlik hissine karşı vermiş olduğu spesifik tepki olarak adlandırılan stres olgusudur. Yönetim psikolojisi alanında özellikle Hans Selye ve Richard S. Lazarus tarafından incelenen stres olgusu; örgütsel psikoloji alanında daha çok stresin iş ile ilgili olan kısmıyla ilgilenmektedir. Çalışma yaşamında etkililik ve verimliliğin gereği olarak iş stresinin yönetilmesi, örgütsel ve bireysel stres ile başaçıkma yöntemlerinin uygulanması ile mümkündür. Bu çalışmada kamu örgütlerinde iş stresi olgusu ve sosyo-ekonomik riskleri, Malatya Turgut Özal Araştırma Hastanesi örneği üzerinden anlatılmaktadır. Bu örnek çerçevesinde hastanede çalışmakta olan hemşirelerin sosyo-demografik özelliklerine ve mesleki durumlarına göre stres düzeyini belirlemeye yönelik bir alan araştırması yapılmıştır. Stresin kaynakları ve sonuçları konusunda gerekli bilgiye ulaşmak amacıyla hazırlanan çalışmada; kurumsal teoriler incelenmiş, dolaylı alıntısal yöntem ve anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Değişkenlerin çalışanların stres düzeyi üzerinde etkili olup olmadığını araştırmak için yapılan veri analizlerinde uygulanan test teknikleri sonucunda; hemşirelerin stres düzeyinin, değişkenlere göre istatistiksel olarak farklılık göstermediği fakat değişkenlerin durumuna göre hesaplanan stres oranlarının birbirinden farklı olduğu görülmüştür.
Survival of the nations in the globalizing word depends on the being one step ahead from other nations beyond catching up the necessities of the time. Nowadays, effort for complying with the ever-changing and rapidly-elapsing tempo of work life not only creates physiological problems but also psychological ones on the individual and organization. One of these problems is the stress fact called as a specific reaction that the individual makes against the pressure and tension experienced by her/him. The stress fact was examined especially by Hans Selye and Richard S. Lazarus in the field of managerial psychology; when it comes to organizational psychology; it deals mostly with the part of the stress related with the work. The management of work stress as a necessity of efficiency and productivity in work life is possible with the implementation of organizational and individual methods to overcome the stress. In this study, the case of work stress and its socio-economic risks in the public organizations are explained by way of the example of Malatya Turgut Özal Research Hospital. Within the framework of this example, a field research was carried out for determining stress level of the nurses working in the hospital according to their social-demographic characteristics and occupational situation. In the study prepared for the purpose of obtaining necessary information on the subjects of stress sources and its results; corporate theories were examined and citation method and survey method were used. As a result of the test techniques implemented on the data analysis for searching whether the variables are effective on stress level of the employees; it was seen that the stress level of the nurses is not statistically different according to the variables, but stress ratios calculated according to the variable situations are different from each other.
