Özet:
The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of solution focused group
psychological counseling upon university students’ coping with social phobia. The
study group of the research included 32 students (16 female-50%, and 16 male-50%)
determined randomly among 184 first grade students studying at Erzincan University,
Faculty of Education in 2013-2014 academic year. Age average of the study group
was 19.81. This research was an experimental study on Solomon four group design
based upon real experimental model. In this study, Social Anxiety Scale, Interview
Form and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools. For the
analysis of the obtained data, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test was used for related
measurements, and Mann Whitney U-test was used for unrelated measurements. At
the end of the research, it was determined that solution focused group counseling was
efficient upon university students’ coping with social phobia. Moreover, this effect was
specified to be actualized independently from maturity and time interaction and pretest
effect.
