dc.description.abstract Abstract: The current study was carried out to investigate the relation between the effective communication skills and social skills of preschool children. The population of the study was made up of children attending to kindergarten in the city centre of Çorum. Randomly chosen in each class, 160 children in total comprised the sampling of the research. As the data collection tool of the study, “Personal Information Form”, “Behaviour Scale for Kindergarten and Nursery Class (Social Skills Scale Section)” and “The Evaluation Scale for the Communication Skills of 5-6 Age Group” were used. The data obtained was analysed through SPSS 20 package program and relational research method were used. The effective communication skill levels and social skill levels of children were classified as low, medium and high. In order to determine the relation between effective communication skills and social skills of children, correlation analysis was made. At the end of the research, it was found that as the effective communication levels of children increased, so did social cooperation, social independence – social acceptance and social interaction levels. Depending on these results, some recommendations were made for educators, parents and researchers. Keywords: Effective communication skills, social skills, early childhood education tr_TR
