Ülke genelinde sürdürülebilir bir kalkınma politikası oluşturulabilmesi için, iller ve bölgelerin ölçülebilir ve birbirleriyle karşılaştırılabilir sosyo-ekonomik durumlarının bilinmesi büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın ana amacı, Türkiye'nin mevcut idari yapısı esasına göre, illerin sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeylerini çok değişkenli bir yaklaşımla incelemektir. Araştırmada 81 il, sosyal ve ekonomik değişkenler kullanılarak temel bileşenler analizi ile gelişmişlik seviyelerine göre sıralanmıştır. Aynı değişkenler kullanılarak, 81 il kümeleme analizi ile sınıflandırılmıştır. 2012 yılında oluşturulan yeni teşvik sistemindeki bölgeler, diskriminant analizi test edilmiştir. Çok boyutlu ölçekleme analizi ile illerin uzaydaki konumları incelenmiş ve illerin benzerlikleri araştırılmıştır.Ensuring a balanced development for the provinces in various geographic regions of Turkey is possible through the application of an efficient development policy across the country. It is quite important to be aware of and possess information on the measurable and comparable socio-economic situations of the provinces in order to create a development policy sustainable throughout the country. The main aim of this study is to examine the socio-economic development levels of provinces of Turkey based on the existing national administrative structure with a multivariate approach. This study ranks 81 Provinces according to their development levels by using social and economical variables with principal component analysis. Using the same variables, 81 Provinces are classified according to clustering analysis.
