In this study, the profile of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities of T. imperati were investigated for the first time. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) system was applied to determine phenolic compositions. Spectrophotometry was used to evaluate potential antioxidant activities. The antioxidant capacity of the methanol extract of T. imperati was determined by applying ABTS (2,2'-azino-di-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid)), CUPRAC (reducing power of Cupric (Cu2+) ions), DPPH(1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl), and FRAP (Ferric ions (Fe3+) reducing power) tests. Compared to BHA, BHT and Trolox used as standards, T. imperati showed moderate antioxidant activity. In the analysis of 25 phenolic compounds by LC-MS/MS, acetohydroxamic acid, catechin hydrate, syringic acid, caffeic acid, quercetin, luteolin, and kaempferol were determined. © 2024, Inonu University.
