Sarici D.E.Özdemir E.2024-08-042024-08-0420171301-2894https://hdl.handle.net/11616/91329In this study, effects of sudden and slow growed thermal changes on the roughness and color of marbles were investigated. For this purpose thermal ageing and thermal shock cycles were realized on two groups of marble from different rock units. In thermal shock cycles, samples were placed in an oven at 105 0C for 18 hours then kept in distilled water for 6 hours. As distinct from thermal shock cycles, samples were cooled for 6 hours at room temperature in thermal ageing cycles. At the beginning and end of the cycles 4,8,12,16 and 20, roughness and color measurements were performed and the relationships between roughness and color changes were also investigated. It is seen that there is no relationship between the roughness and color changes of the thermal shock and thermal ageing cycles and also the roughness is not an indicator for predicting color changes for thermal cycle. © 2017, Hacettepe Universitesi Yerbilmleri.
