Bu araştırma, 19. yüzyılın Alman bestecilerinden olan ve romantik dönemin önemli bestecilerinden sayılan Johannes
Brahms’ın viyolonsel - piyano için bestelemiş olduğu Op. 38 mi minör sonatının birinci bölümünün müzikal analizini
yaparak, ilgili bölümün form ve armoni yapısını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada konunun kuramsal
temellerinin oluşturulması aşamasında literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Bunun yanında müzikal analiz yapılarak, belirtilen
bölümün form ve armoni yapıları belirlenmiştir. Bu belirlemeler doğrultusunda Johannes Brahms’ın Op. 38 mi minör
viyolonsel - piyano sonatının birinci bölümünün, 4/4’lük ölçü kalıbında, mi minör tonunda ve sonat allegrosu formunda
yazıldığı, ana tema ve yardımcı tema arasında tonik - dominant ilişkisinin olduğu, gelişme bölümünde uzak tonlara
modülasyon yapıldığı, bestecinin eserin bu bölümünde hem klasik hem de romantik dönemin form ve armoni
özelliklerini birlikte kullandığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
This research is carried out in order to perform a musical analysis on Johannes Brahms’, who is among the German
composers of 19. century and regarded as an important composer of the romantic age, Op.38 e minor sonata composed
for violoncello - piano and determine the form and harmonic structure of the related part. In the research, literature
scanning is performed to settle the theoretical basis of the subject. In addition to this, by performing musical analysis,
form and harmonic structures of the related part are determined. In accordance with these determinations, that Johannes
Brahms’ Op.38 e minor violoncello - piano sonata was written in 4/4 beat, in the e minor tone and in the form of sonata
allegro, there is tonic - dominant relation between the main theme and sub - theme, modulation has been made on the
remote tones in the processing part, in this part of the piece, the composer used the form and harmonic structures of
both Classic and Romantic ages together are concluded.
