Ameliyat öncesi reiki uygulamasının hastaların kaygı düzeyine etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırma, ameliyat öncesi reiki uygulamasının hastaların kaygı düzeyine etkisini incelemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ön test - son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneme modeli olarak yapılan araştırma, Diyarbakır Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi (DEAH) Dağkapı Kampüsü Genel Cerrahi Kliniği'nde Haziran 2013- Temmuz 2014 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini; DEAH genel cerrahi kliniğinde ameliyat öncesi dönemde olan tüm yetişkin hastalar oluşturmuştur. Örneklemini ise, görme- işitme problemi olmayan, sözel iletişim kurabilen, tanılanmış psikiyatrik sorunları olmayan, olasılıksız rastlantısal örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen ve yapılan güç analizi ile belirlenen 105 deney, 105 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 210 hasta oluşturmuştur. Veri toplamada, deney ve kontrol grubuna hasta tanıtım formu kullanılıp, ön testte deney grubuna, ameliyat öncesi akşam durumluluk ve sürekli kaygı ölçeği uygulanmış sonrasında 30 dk'lık reiki girişimi yapılmış ve bitiminde son testte durumluluk ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Kontrol grubuna, ameliyat öncesi akşam ön testte durumluluk ve sürekli kaygı ölçeği uygulanmış sonrasında reiki uygulamasının bittiği süre olan 30. dk'da ise son testte durumluluk ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Veriler; yüzde, aritmetik ortalama ki-kare ve bağımsız gruplarda t testi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Deney grubu hastalarının reiki uygulaması sonrası kaygı düzeylerinde kontrol grubuna oranla düşme olduğu görülmüştür. Son testlerden elde edilen sonuçlara göre kontrol grubu hastaların kaygı düzeyleri artarken, deney grubu hastaların kaygı düzeyleri azalmıştır. Bu sonuçlar reiki uygulamasının ameliyat öncesi kaygı düzeyi kontrolünde ve artışını engellemede etkili olduğunu düşündürmektedir.

This study was performed to investigate the effect of preoperative reiki administration on anxiety level of patients. The study, which is a quasi-experimental model with pretest-posttest control groups, was performed in Diyarbakır Training and Research Hospital (DTRH) Dağkapı Campus Clinic of General Surgery between June 2013 and July 2014. The population of the study was constituted by all adult patients in the preoperative period, hospitalized in the clinic of general surgery in DTRH. The sample was constituted by a total of 210 patients (105 in the experimental and 105 in the control group) chosen by nonprobability random sampling method and determined by the performed power analysis and who were experiencing no vision or hearing impairments, able to communicate verbally and experiencing no defined psychiatric problems. Patient identification form was used in the data collection for experimental and control groups while state-trait anxiety inventory was applied to the experimental group the night before the surgery followed by a 30-minute reiki attempt and state inventory was performed in the end in the posttest. State-trait anxiety inventory was applied to the control group in the pretest the night before the surgery followed by a state inventory in the posttest in the 30th minute which is the time point in which reiki administration is ceased. Data was evaluated using percentages, arithmetic averages, chi-square test and t test for independent groups. The anxiety level of experimental group patients displayed a decrease following reiki administration compared to the control group. The results of posttests demonstrated that anxiety levels of control group patients increased whereas anxiety levels of experimental group patients decreased. These results imply that reiki administration is effective in controlling the preoperative anxiety levels and in preventing the increase of it.
