Kronik hastalıklar gün geçtikçe insanların hayatını kısıtlayarak yaşam kalitelerini düşürmekte olup, sebep oldukları komplikasyonlar ile de hayati tehlikelere neden olmaktadırlar. Bu kronik hastalıklardan biri diyabet hastalığıdır. Diyabet hastalığı, kandaki şeker düzeyini dengeleyen insülin hormonunun; eksikliği ve/veya yeterince salgılanmasına rağmen vücutta kullanılamaması sonucu oluşan kronik metabolizma rahatsızlığıdır. Bu hastalığın takibi önemli olup yetersiz kontrol veya takip durumlarında hayati komplikasyonlara neden olabilmektedir. Bu nedenle hastaların kendi sağlık durumlarını sürekli bir izleme sistemiyle takip etmeleri çok önemlidir. Bu tip hastalıkların daha rahat kontrol altına alınabilmesi için giyilebilir teknolojiler kullanılarak elektronik sağlık (e-sağlık) alanında birçok proje ve uygulama geliştirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada diyabet hastalığının durum takibini yapan, aynı zamanda fiziksel aktivite ve kalp ritim verilerinin de gösterimini sağlayan Android tabanlı akıllı saatler için bir uygulama geliştirilmiştir. Bu uygulamanın geliştirme çalışmaları Norwegian Centre for e-Health Research isimli araştırma merkezinin katkıları ile Tromsø/Norveç'te yapılmıştır. Ayrıca uygulama, aynı merkez tarafından geliştirilen "Diabetes Diary" isimli Android telefon uygulaması ile eşzamanlı olarak çalışmakta olup, uygulamanın Android akıllı saat versiyonudur.
Chronic diseases restrict the life of the people day by day and reduce the quality of life, also these diseases can cause life threating events due to the complications. One of these chronic diseases is diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a chronic metabolisma disease resulting from the lack of insulin hormone or being of no use despite the sufficient secretion of insulin hormone which regulates the glucose level in the blood. The monitoring of the disease is very important, and it can cause life threatening complications in the case of insufficient control or monitoring. Therefore, it is of vital importance to follow up own medical conditions for the patients via a continuous monitoring system. In order to get this type of diseases under control, several projects and applications have been developed by the use of wearable technologies in the field of Electronic Health (e-Health). In this study, an application was developed for Android based smart watches which have the capacity of monitoring the state of diabetes mellitus and indicating the data concerning the physical activities and cardiac rhythm. The development process of the application was achieved in collaboration with Norwegian Centre for e-Health Research in Tromsø/Norway. Also, the application operates simultaneously with an Android phone application called as Diabetes Diary, which is developed by this Research Center, and it is the smart watch version of mentioned application.
