Pilates kadınlar arasında çok popüler bir egzersiz yaklaşımıdır. Çalışmamızın amacı pilates eğitim
programının vücut kompozisyonuna etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmaya bir spor merkezinde pilates yapan 15-43 yaş
arasındaki (yaş ortalaması: 26,36±5,52 yıl) 53 kadın katıldı. Katılımcılara 3 ay boyunca, haftada 2 gün, 90 dakika
mat pilates eğitimi ve reformer pilates egzersiz eğitimi verildi. Başlangıçta ve eğitimden üç ay sonra vücut
kompozisyonu gögüs, bel çevresi, karın çevresi, kalça çevresi, sağ kol, sol kol çevresi, vücut ağırlığı ve vücut kitle
indeksi (VKİ) ile değerlendirildi. Mat pilates ön test-son test değerleri (göğüs çevresi, bel çevresi, karın çevresi,
kalça çevresi, sağ kol çevresi, sol kol çevresi, sağ bacak çevresi, sol bacak çevresi, vücut ağırlığı ve VKİ ön testson test) karşılaştırıldığında aralarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p=0.000). Reformer
pilates ön test-son test değerleri (göğüs çevresi, bel çevresi, karın çevresi, kalça çevresi, sağ kol çevresi, sol kol
çevresi, sağ bacak çevresi, sol bacak çevresi, vücut ağırlığı ve VKİ ön test-son test) karşılaştırıldığında aralarında
istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p=0.000). Mat pilates ve reformer pilates gruplarının ön
test ve son test değerleri karşılaştırıldığında sadece sağ bacak çevresi son test ile sol bacak çevresi son test değerleri
açısından gruplar arasında anlamlı fark bulunmuş (p<0.05), fakat diğer ölçümler için fark saptanmamıştır (p>0.05).
Çalışmamızın sonuçunda; mat pilates ve reformer pilates egzersiz eğitim programlarının vücut kompozisyonunu
olumlu yönde etkilediğini söyleyebiliriz.

Pilates is a very popular exercise approach among women. The aim of our study is to investigate the effect
of pilates training program on body composition. The study included 53 women aged 15-43 years who performed
pilates in a sports center (mean age: 26.36 ± 5.52 years). Participants received 2-day a week, 90-minute per season
during 3 months mat pilates and reformer pilates training. At the beginning and three months after the training, the
body composition was evaluated by chest, waist circumference, abdomen, hip circumference, right arm, left arm
circumference, body weight and body mass index (BMI). In the Mat pilates group, there was a signicantly
differences between pretest-posttest values in terms of chest circumference, waist circumference, abdomen
circumference, hip circumference, right arm circumference, left arm circumference, right leg circumference, left
leg circumference, body weight and BMI (p = 0.000). In the reformer pilates group, there was a signicantly
differences between pretest-posttest values in terms of chest circumference, waist circumference, abdomen
circumference, hip circumference, right arm circumference, left arm circumference, right leg circumference, left
leg circumference, body weight, and BMI (p = 0.000). When compared pre-test and posttest values of the mat
pilates and reformer pilates groups, only a significant difference was found for the right and left leg circumference
posttest values (p <0.05), but there was significant differences for the other parameters (p> 0.05). The results of
our study suggested that the training program consisting of mat pilates and reformer pilates exercises had a positive
effect on body composition.
