Bu doktora tezi beş bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, tezde kullanılan bazı temel kavramlar ve 2?boyutlu kısmi diferansiyel denklemler hakkında genel bilgiler verildikten sonra, sonlu fark, varyasyonel ve sonlu eleman yöntemleri ile birlikte spline ve B-Spline baz fonksiyonları hakkında temel kavramlar verildi. İkinci,üçüncü,dördüncü,ve beşinci bölümler bu tezin orijinal kısımlarını oluşturmaktadır. İkinci bölümde, bu tez boyunca 2?boyutlu kısmi diferansiyel denklemlerin çözümünde kulanılacak olan 2?boyutlu kübik, kuintik ve septik B-spline baz fonksiyonları modifiye edildi. Üçüncü bölümde, sınır şartları ile verilen zamana bağlı olmayan 2?boyutlu Poisson denkleminin farklı dereceden B-spline baz fonksiyonları kullanılarak Galerkin sonlu eleman yöntemi ile nümerik çözümleri elde edildi. Elde edilen nümerik sonuçlar literatürdeki mevcut sonuçlar ile karşılaştırılarak L2 ve L? hata normları ile birlikte tablolar halinde sunuldu. Dördüncü bölümde, başlangıç ve sınır şartları ile verilen 2?boyutlu difüzyon denklemi farklı dereceden B-spline baz fonksiyonları kullanılarak Galerkin sonlu eleman yöntemiyle çözüldü. Elde edilen nümerik sonuçlar literatürdeki mevcut sonuçlar ile karşılaştırılarak L2 ve L? hata normları ile birlikte tablolar halinde sunuldu. Beşinci bölümde, başlangıç ve sınır şartları ile verilen 2?boyutlu kararsız (unsteady ) Burgers denklemi farklı dereceden B-spline baz fonksiyonları kullanılarak Galerkin sonlu eleman yöntemiyle çözüldü. Elde edilen nümerik sonuçlar literatürdeki mevcut sonuçlar ile karşılaştırılarak L2 ve L? hata normları ile birlikte tablolar halinde sunuldu.
This Ph.D. thesis consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, after giving some general information about the fundamental concepts and 2?dimensional partial differential equations used in the thesis, fundamental concepts about the finite difference, variational and finite element methods together with spline and B-spline functions are presented. The second, third, fourth and fifth chapters of the thesis make up its original parts. In the second chapter, 2?dimensional cubic, quintic and septic B-spline bases functions which will be used in the solution of 2?dimensional partial differential equations are modified. In the third chapter, numerical solutions of time-independent 2?dimensional Poisson equation given with boundary conditions are obtained with Galerkin finite element method by using various degrees of B-spline functions. The obtained numerical results are compared with existing results in the literature, and they are given with their error norms L2 and L? in the form of tables. In the fourth chapter, 2?dimensional diffusion equation given with initial and boundary conditions is solved by using Galerkin finite element method with various degrees of B-spline functions. The obtained numerical results are compared with existing results in the literature, and they are given with their error norms L2 and L? in the form of tables. In the fifth chapter, 2?dimensional unsteady Burgers equation given with initial and boundary conditions is solved by using Galerkin finite element method with various degrees of B-spline functions.
