Malatya İl Merkezinde 12 Aylık Bebeklerin Büyüme-Gelişmesi

Abstract

This cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the growth and development of twelve-month infants in the city of Malatya and the relationship of this to mothers’ knowledge of growth and development.

Methods: Healthy infants (260) born in March 1997 and living in the city of Malatya were included to the study. Data were collected from mothers during March 1998 by researchers’ trained assistants using questionnaires as well as by measurement of growth. Data were analyzed by rates and chi-square.

Results: With respect to weight, 3% of the girls were under the 3% percentile while 0.7% of the boys were under the 3% percentile. Length measurements indicated that 1.5% of the girls were under the 3 percentile and 1.6% of them were under the 3% percentile. Mothers who were informed about baby growth and development were compared to those who were not. Results showed that 58% of informed mothers and 40% of non-informed ones took their babies for routine health checks (p<0.05). The evaluation of growth and development of the infant is essential for nursing applications.

Malatya il merkezinde 12 aylık bebeklerin büyüme gelişme durumlarını ve annelerin büyüme gelişme bilgisiyle ilişkisini saptamak amacıyla yapılan kesitsel bir çalışmadır.

Metot: Araştırmanın evrenini, Malatya il merkezinde yaşayan ve 1997 Mart’ta doğmuş (260) sağlıklı bebekler oluşturmaktadır. Veriler 1998 Mart ayı boyunca büyümenin ölçülmesiyle olduğu kadar, anket formu kullanarak, eğitilen araştırmacılar tarafından annelerden toplandı. Veri oranlar ve ki-kare ile analiz edildi.

Sonuç: Ağırlığına göre erkeklerin %0.7’si %3 persantilin altındayken kızların %3’ü %3 persantilin altındaydı. Boy ölçümleri kızların %1.5’i %3 persantilin altında olduğunu gösterdi ve erkeklerin %1.6’sı %3 persantilin altındaydı. Bebek büyüme gelişmesi hakkında bilgisi olan annelerle olmayanlar karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar bilgili annelerin %58’i ve bilgili olmayanların %40’ının bebeklerini rutin sağlık kontrolü için getirdiğini gösterdi (p<0.05). Bebeklerin büyüme ve gelişmelerinin değerlendirilmesi hemşirelik uygulamaları için gereklidir.
