Abstract:
Öz:Amaç: Endoskopik sinüs cerrahisinin nazal polip ve kronik sinüzitli hastaların yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkisi araştırıldı. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi uygulanan 30 hasta (5 kadın, 25 erkek; ört. yaş 36; dağılım 17-58) ileriye dönük olarak değerlendirildi. On beş hastada tanı nazal polipozis, 15 hastada kronik sinüzit idi. Yirmi üç olguda primer, yedi olguda reviz-yon cerrahisi uygulandı. Ameliyat öncesinde ve ameliyattan altı ay sonra hastaların yaşam kalitesi, Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-12 (SF-12) ve Chro-ic Sinusitis Survey (CSS) anketleri ile değerlendirildi. Uygulamadan önce her iki anketin Türkçeye çevrilmesi ve uyumluluğu sağlandı. Ayrıca ameliyat öncesi ve ameliyattan altı ay sonraki bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT) bulguları Lund ve Mackay sistemine göre skorlandı. Anket sonuçları ve BT skorları arasında korelasyon araştırıldı. Bulgular: Ameliyat sonrasında tüm olguların SF-12 ve CSS skorlarında anlamlı düzelme gözlendi. Ancak BT skorlarındaki iyileşme yaşam kalitesi skorlarındaki iyileşmeler ile uyumlu bulunmadı. Sonuç: Endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi nazal polipozis ve kronik sinüzitii hastaların yaşam kalitesi üzerinde belirgin iyileşme sağlamasına rağmen yaşam kalitesindeki artış BT skorlarıyla korelasyon göstermeyebilir.

Öz (İngilizce):Objectives: We assessed the effects of endoscopic sinüs surgery on quality of life of patients with nasal polyposis ör chronic sinusitis. Patîents and Methods: Thirty patients (5 females, 25 males; mean age 36 years; range 17 to 58 years) who undervvent endoscopic sinüs surgery were prospec-tively evaluated. The diagnoses were nasal polyposis in 15 patients and chronic sinusitis in 15 patients. Primary and revision operations were performed in 23 patients and seven patients, respectively. The quality of life was evaluated before and six months after surgery with the use of the Chronic Sinusitis Survey (CSS), and Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-12 (SF-12). Prior to administration, the two questionnaires were translated and adapted to Turkish. Computed tomography (CT) findings were scored before and six months after surgery according to the Lund-Mackay system. The results of the surveys were compared with CT scores. Results: The postoperative SF-12 and CSS scores of ali the patients improved significantly. Computed tomography scores were not found in correlation with improvements in the SF-12 and CSS scores. Conclusion: Endoscopic sinüs surgery results in significant improvement in the quality of life of patients with nasal polyposis and chronic sinusitis, vvhich may not be reflected by CT scores.
