Abstract:
Öz:Amaç: Açlık sindirim sisteminde yapısal ve fonksiyonel değişiklikler oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmamızda erişkin Wistar albino sıçanlarda kısa ve uzun süreli açlığın mide mukozasında yol açtığı histolojik ve histokimyasal değişiklikler incelenmeye çalışıldı. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmamızda Wistar albino cinsi, erişkin 35 adet dişi sıçan kullanıldı. Deney süresince deneklere sadece su verildi. Doyurulmayı takip eden 1., 6., 12., 36., 48., 96., ve 168. saatlerde, mideden parçalar alındı. Bulgular: 6. saatin sonunda bez lümeninde genişleme izlendi. 12. saatin sonunda yüzey epitelinde ve bez epitelinde yassılaşma ve dejenerasyon gözlendi. Lamina propriya ve submukozada lenfosit ve eozinofil infiltrasyonu gözlendi. 36. saatin sonunda bu değişikliklere ilaveten yüzey epitelinde parçalanma izlendi. Bezlerde bol mitoz figürü gözlendi. 48. saatin sonunda bu histolojik değişiklikler belirginleşmişti. Yüzey epitelinde parçalanma belirgindi. Bez epitelinde piknotik nükleuslu, şeffaf sitoplazmalı hücreler izlendi. 96. saatin sonunda bu bulgulara ilaveten bez epitelinde çok miktarda heterokromatik veya piknotik nükleuslu, asidofil sitoplazmalı hücre gözlendi. Bu dönemde bezlerin boyun bölümünde çok miktarda şeffaf sitoplazmalı hücre görüldü. 168. saatin sonunda histolojik bulgular iyice belirginleşmişti. Yüzey epitelinde bozulma belirginleşmiş, bez epitelinde piknotik nükleuslu, asidofil sitoplazmalı hücre sayısı artmıştı. Açlık süresi arttıkça yüzeyde ve bez lümeninde izlenen mukus tabakasında incelme görüldü. Sonuç: Açlığın, süresi ile bağlantılı olarak mide mukozasında histolojik değişiklikler oluşturduğu sonucuna varıldı.
Başlık (İngilizce):Histological and histochemical alterations in the mucosa of rat stomach induced by short and long term starvation
Öz (İngilizce):Objective: Fasting is associated with structural and functional alterations in the gastrointestinal system. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the histological and histochemical alterations in the mucosa of rat stomach induced by short and long term fasting. Material and Methods: In the present study, thirty-five female Wistar rats were used. During starvation, animals had free excess to water. Animals were fed for the last time and then at the end of the following 1st, 6th, 12th, 36th, 48th., 96th. and 168th. hours samples were obtained from stomach. Results: At the end of 6th hour, dilatation of the lumen of gastric glands was observed. At the end of 12. hour, flattening and degeneration of the surface epithelium and that of the gastric glands were seen. Lymphocyte and eosinophil infiltration in the lamina propria and in the submucosa were observed. At the end of 36th.hour, in addition to these findings, erosion of the surface epithelium was observed. There were many mitotic figures in the epithelium of gastric glands. At the end of 48th hour, these histological findings were more obvious. Erosion of the surface epithelium was prominent. Many cells with pyknotic nuclei and clear cytoplasm were observed in the gland epithelium. At the end of 96th hour, in addition to these findings, many cells with heterochromatic or pyknotic nuclei and acidophilic cytoplasm were seen in the epithelium of gastric glands. At this stage there were many cells with clear cytoplasm at the neck of the glands. At the end of 168th hour, the histological finding were more severe. Degeneration of the surface epithelium was more obvious, number of the cells with pyknotic nuclei and acidophilic cytoplasm was increased. Mucus, lying on the surface was decreased as the duration of starvation prolonged. Conclusion: It is concluded that fasting causes important structural changes in the mucosa of stomach these alterations become more obvious as the duration of the starvation prolongs.
