Abstract:
Öz:Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, intrauterin dönemde fetal cinsiyetin annelerin mutluluk düzeyine etkisini incelemekti. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki araştırmanın evrenini, bir devlet hastanesinin kadın doğum polikliniğine bir yılda başvuran 6000 gebe kadın oluşturdu. Örnekleme 638 gebe kadın olasılıksız rastlantısal örnekleme yöntemiyle alındı. Veriler, veri toplama formu ve Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği kullanılarak Nisan-Haziran 2016 tarihleri arasında toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; sayı, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, t testi ve ANOVA testi kullanıldı. Bulgular: Gebelerin yaş ortalaması 27.55±5.33, Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği puan ortalaması 122.54±17.18 bulundu. Çalışmada gebelerin yaşı, öğrenim düzeyi ve eşin istediği bebek cinsiyetine göre mutluluk puanları arasında önemli fark saptandı. Sonuç: Gebelerin mutluluk düzeyi orta olarak saptandı. Gebe kadınların yaşının genç olması, yüksek eğitimli olması ve eşinin bebek cinsiyeti konusunda tercihte bulunmaması mutluluk düzeyini artırmaktaydı. Cinsiyet eşitliği konusunda sağlık personeli tüm toplumu bilinçlendirmelidir.
Başlık (İngilizce):HOW DOES FETAL GENDER AFFECT MOTHERS’ LEVELS OF HAPPINESS DURING PREGNANCY
Öz (İngilizce):Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of intrauterine fetal gender on mothers’ level of happiness. Method: This cross-sectional study consisted of 6000 pregnant women who enrolled at the obstetric polyclinic of a state hospital. 638 pregnant women were selected using a random sampling method. The data were collected between April and June 2016 using a data collection form and the Oxford Happiness Scale. In evaluating the data absolute number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test and ANOVA test were employed. Findings: The mean age for the pregnant women was 27.55 ± 5.33 and the mean score on the Oxford Happiness Scale was 122.54 ± 17.18. In this study, there were significant differences observed in age during pregnancy, education level and the gender of child desired by the womens’ partners and consequent happiness scores. Result: The pregnant women were found to be moderately happy on average. Young age of the pregnant woman, being highly educated, and the partner having expressed no choice in the sex of the child was associated with an increase in the level of women’s happiness. Healthcare staff have a duty to educate society about gender equality.
