Öğe The Analysis of the Athletes' Constant Sportive Self-Confidence Degree Based on Several Variants (Istanbul/Bagcilar - Case Study)(Lahore Medical Research Center Llp, 2021) Karabulut, Omer; Akcinar, FarukObjective: In this study, it is aimed to determine athletes' sportive self-confidence and point out the factors affecting it. Methods: The study was conducted on 454 sportspeople participating in amateur sports clubs and the Olympic Sports Centre in Bagcilar during the 2018-2019 season, using a demographic survey and a scale of constant sportive self-confidence. The acquired data were analyzed on the SPSS program using a T-test and ANOVA besides descriptive statistics. Findings: The athletes were found to have a high degree of self-confidence. The degree of the males was considerably higher than that of the females. Likewise, the sportive self-confidence of footballers and taekwondoers was also substantially higher than that of the basketball and volleyball players. According to the BMI properties, the sportive self confidence level of thinner athletes is meaningfully higher than normal weight and overweight participants. Similarly, the degree is also higher with the athletes aged 13-14 than the ones aged 15 or more. In addition, the same level was also considerably higher with the athletes whose parents are athletes than the ones having none Conclusion: Now that sportive self-confidence is higher with males, younger groups and thinner athletes and increases in tandem with the time spent on the sport, personal exercise programs to augment performance are of great importance, urging families to encourage their children at an early age for sports facilities.Öğe Effects of chronic core training on serum and erythrocyte oxidative stress parameters in amputee football players(Frontiers Media Sa, 2023) Kurtoglu, Ahmet; Konar, Nurettin; Akcinar, Faruk; Car, Bekir; Uremis, Nuray; Turkoz, Yusuf; Eken, OzgurObjective: The positive impact of aerobic exercise on blood oxidative stress parameters is well documented. However, the effect of core exercises on these parameters in amputee football players (AF) remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of core exercises on blood oxidative stress parameters in this population.Methods: Experimental method was adopted in the study. Eleven elite AF players participated in the study. The participants were divided randomly into two groups a core exercise group (CEG) and a control group (CG). Blood measurements were taken before and after the 8-week core exercise program. Blood measurements included erythrocyte Total Oxidant Status (eTOS), erythrocyte Total Antioxidant Status (eTAS), erythrocyte oxidative stress index (eOSI), serum nitric oxide (sNO), serum Total Oxidant Status (sTOS), serum Total Antioxidant Status (sTAS), serum oxidative stress index (sOSI), serum total thiol (sTT), serum native thiol (sNT), and serum disulfide (sDS) parameters were studied.Results: According to the results of the study, a significant difference was found between the 0th and eighth week pre-aerobic training load (ATL) sTOS (p = .028) values of CEG values. A significant difference was found in sTOS (p = .028) and sOSI (p = .028) values after the 0th and eighth-week pre-ATL. A significant difference was found in the sTOS (p = .043) and sOSI values (p = .043) of CG at week 0th and eighth-week pre-ATL.Conclusion: Overall, the results suggest that core exercises had a positive effect on blood oxidative stress parameters in AF players by reducing blood total oxidant levels.Öğe Effects of short-term pre-competition weight loss on certain physiological parameters and strength change in elite boxers(Public Library Science, 2024) Yasul, Yavuz; Akcinar, Faruk; Yasul, Muhammet Enes; Kurtoglu, Ahmet; Eken, Ozgur; Badicu, Georgian; Ardigo, Luca PaoloBackground Athletes in certain sports aim to gain an advantage by competing in a lower body mass class instead of competing in their own body mass class. This study aims to reveal certain physiologic and strength changes in elite male boxers who lost body mass rapidly before the competition.Methods 30 thirty boxers who were aged between 19-24 years and having a mean age of 7.4 years participated in the study. To evaluate the effect of short-term dietary intake interventions on body composition and muscle strength before the competition, boxers were divided into three groups: control (C), exercise+diet1 (E+D1) and exercise+diet2 (E+D2) groups. The dietary habits of the participants were controlled and they participated in the training program. The data of the study consisted of variables such as body mass, height, regional muscle mass, body fat percentage, biceps and femur bicondylar circumference measurements before the competitions. Isometric strength measurements of knee extensors and flexors and shoulder internal and external rotators were also recorded.Results Physiologic parameters such as body mass change, BMI level, body fat percentage and leg muscle ratios of E+D2 were significantly decreased compared to C and E+D1 groups. Furthermore, submaximal and maximal strength production in knee extensors and flexors as well as shoulder internal and external rotators were significantly decreased in E+D2 compared to C and E+D1 groups.Conclusion The tendency to lose body mass quickly in a short of time may give the desired results in terms of BMI, body mass and fat percentage, but it may cause strength losses in boxers during the competition period.Öğe EVALUATION OF POSTURE AND CORE ENDURANCE IN ELITE JUNIOR CLIMBERS(Dokuz Eylul Univ Inst Health Sciences, 2021) Ozdemir, Filiz; Tutus, Nisanur; Kilcik, Melek Havva; Arslan, Faruk; Gurer, Huseyin; Akcinar, FarukObjectives: Climbing, which is a popular sport in recent years, requires high performance and agility levels. The characteristics of climbers are still unclear. This study has been carried out to evaluate the posture and core endurance levels of climbers. Methods: Forty-nine elite climbers (mean age 15.02 +/- 2.68 years) and forty-four healthy sedentary controls (mean age 14.48 +/- 1.17 years) participated in this study. Postural assessment was conducted with New York Posture Rating Chart. McGill Core Endurance Test was used to assess the core endurance levels of the participants. Results: Of the participants included in the study, 58.2% were male and 41.8% were female. 69.3% of the climbers had been involved in climbing for more than 2 years. No statistically significant differences were found between in age, height, and body weight between the groups (p>0.05). A difference was observed in the core endurance scores between the groups (p<0.05). An increase was seen in the climbers' group when compared to the control group in the scores of the endurance levels of core flexors and right and left lateral core muscles (p<0.05). The postures of the climbers' group were also observed to be deteriorated when compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The studies conducted on climbing which has become highly popular in recent years are limited considering the importance of the issue. We believe that including posture exercises and endurance training in the exercise programs of the sportspeople will contribute to their climbing performances as well as their overall health.Öğe The relationship between serum leptin and VO2max levels in pre-puberty swimmer girls: effect of acute exercise(Mattioli 1885, 2020) Gullu, Esin; Gullu, Abdullah; Duzova, Halil; Ozgor, Bilge; Kilinc, Evren; Akcinar, FarukObjective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between serum leptin (SL) level, which is the sensor of changes in energy intake and consumption, and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) level in pre-puberty swimmer girls. Methods: Voluntary participants were divided into swimmer group (n:16) and the control group (n:15). Bruce protocol was used for acute exercise effect. Body composition, VO2max and SL concentrations of the study group were measured before and after acute exercise. The paired-samples t-test and independent samples t-test were used for intra- and inter-group comparisons. The linear relations between the VO2max and SL levels were determined by Pearson correlation coefficient. The level of significance was used at 0.05. Results: There was a significant difference between the SL level and test stage, test duration, HR of test-end, and VO2max variables in both groups (p<0.05). There was a high level of negative correlation between VO2max and SL levels in both groups after exercise (SG, r=-0.63; p<0.01, and CG, r=-0.60; p<0.05, respectively). Conclusion: Acute exercise resulted in decreased SL levels of both groups. It was concluded that regular swimming sports has a positive effect on body composition, VO2max, and SL values of pre-pubertal girls.Öğe The Response of the Amputee Athlete Heart to Chronic Core Exercise: A Study on Hematological and Biochemical Parameters, and N-Terminal Pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide(Mdpi, 2024) Kurtoglu, Ahmet; Konar, Nurettin; Akcinar, Faruk; Alotaibi, Madawi H.; Elkholi, Safaa M.Background and Objectives: mortality and morbidity due to cardiovascular causes are frequently experienced in amputees. Research on the effects of chronic exercise on biomarkers and cardiac damage indicators in these individuals is limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a core training program on brain natriuretic-related peptide, as well as hematological and biochemical parameters in amputee soccer players. Materials and Methods: The participants were randomly allocated to the following two groups: a core exercise group (CEG) and a control group (CG). While the CG continued routine soccer training, the CEG group was included in a core exercise program different from this group. During the study, routine hemogram parameters of the participants, various biochemical markers, and the concentration of brain natriuretic-related peptide (NT-pro-BNP) were analyzed. Results: after the training period, notable improvements in various hematological parameters were observed in both groups. In the CEG, there were significant enhancements in red blood cell count (RBC), hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) values. Similarly, the CG also showed substantial improvements in RBC, HCT, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), MCHC, MCH, red cell distribution width-standard deviation (RDW-SD), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLCR), mean platelet volume (MPV), and platelet distribution width (PDW). Moreover, in the CEG, serum triglycerides (TG) and maximal oxygen uptake (MaxVO2) exhibited significant increases. Conversely, TG levels decreased in the CG, while high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and MaxVO2 levels demonstrated substantial elevations. Notably, the N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels did not undergo significant changes in either the CEG or the CG following the core exercise program (p > 0.05). However, in the CEG, a meaningful positive correlation was observed between NT-pro-BNP and creatine kinase (CK) levels before and after the core exercise program. Conclusions: the findings emphasized the potential benefits of core training in enhancing specific physiological aspects, such as erythrocyte-related parameters and lipid metabolism, as well as aerobic capacity. Furthermore, the observed correlation between NT-pro-BNP and CK levels in the CEG provides intriguing insights into the unique physiological adaptations of amputee athletes.
