Öğe A different prosthetic approach to wear teeth: Case report(Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry, 2015) Atala M.H.; Ocak M.S.; Eşer B.; Polat N.T.Excessive tooth wear occurs with dental hard tissue destruction due to pathological reasons. The etiological factors may be mechanical, chemical and psychological, or their combinations. Dental attrision creates serious problems with masticatory and speech functions, and esthetics of the patients. Excessive occlusal wear can also cause loss of vertical dimension. This serious loss of tooth structure, requires a comprehensive restorative treatment. 45 years old female patient was admitted to our clinic with complaints of loss of aesthetics and masticatory function. First of all, the root canal treatment of the upper front teeth -all of which is vital- was performed. Then the crown lengths were extended by prefabricated posts and composite cores. The patient's occlusal vertical dimension increased by restorations of temporary acrylic crowns. The patient has been made to use these acrylic temporary crowns for 3 months to get used to the new vertical dimension. At the end of this period, the patient's upper and lower teeth were restored with metal-ceramic crowns. An occlusal splint was made for protective purposes.Öğe Late prosthetic treatment of maxillary and mandibular defect caused by gunshot(Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry, 2016) Eser B.; Atala M.H.; Gül E.B.; Polat N.T.Weapon of suicide attempts is usually placed under the chin or into the mouth. Defect location and width, which is affected by the extension of the head and the grip angle of the arm, determine the prosthetic treatment options.In this clinical report prosthetic rehabilitation of large maxillary and mandibular defect formed as a result of suicide attempts with firearms is presented. 44-year-old male patient presented to our clinic with complaints about the 14 years old maxillary and mandibular defect prosthesis. Nose and symphysis region after the accident surgically autogenous grafts that are configured with, fit completely to a deterioration speech, swallowing and chewing difficulties.Clinical and radiological examination for the construction of implant-supported overdentures there is not enough bone after restoring of the teeth, maxillary obturator prosthesis in the upper jaw, lower jaw while partial dentures are made with metal base. Most of the maxillary and mandibular defect in patients with conventional prosthetic applications satisfactory results are obtained. © 2016, Cumhuriyet Dent J. All rights reserved.
