System operating conditions deteriorate due to the increase in the rate of failure and leakage. Therefore, the failure rate and leakage volume should be reduced by applying the most appropriate methods. For this, the most economically suitable level must first be defined in each system or district-metered area. This study aims to define the most economical leakage level with the optimization algorithm in the district-metered area in water distribution systems. For this, network characteristics, subscriber information and water consumption, water production cost, failure rates, and other data in the isolated measurement area are considered. Ant lion optimization algorithm was used as the optimization algorithm in the study. The definition of the methods to be applied to reach the defined ELL level constitutes a reference for the implementers. Water utilities can continue their loss reduction strategies in the most economically efficient way with the help of this method. In the selected regions of the study area, pressure management application and active leakage method application were economical. Thus, it is possible to create a more effective and efficient leakage management plan in the isolated measurement area. It is thought that the results obtained from the study will serve as a reference for practitioners and technical personnel, especially in terms of determining the appropriate leakage target level for each isolated region. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.Öğe Effects of fractional order integration on ASDM signals(Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2017) Kavuran G.; Yeroğlu C.; Ateş A.; Alagoz B.B.Pulse density modulation (PDM) can find applications in consumer electronics, power and switch control systems. PDM signals can be generated by asynchronous sigma delta modulator (ASDM) structures and improvement of ASDM performance provides significant contribution for practical applications. This study numerically investigates effects of fractional order integration (FOI) on the PDM signal, produced by ASDM. We implemented fractional order integratorin ASDM structure and present numerical analysis to discuss effects of fractional order integrator on PDM signals, obtained for bipolar digital signal transmission application. Theoretical analysis indicates that FOI provides finer pulse trains and thus improves representation of original signal. In simulations, we tested FOI for various fractional-order values. Signal to noise ratio and signal to noise and distortion ratio (SINAD) levels of demodulated signals are reported for sinusoidal and audio test signals. Simulation results demonstrate that FOI can improve SNR and SINAD performance of ASDMs. © 2016, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.Öğe The impact of the emotional intelligence of learners of turkish as a foreign language on reading comprehension skills and reading anxiety(Horizon Research Publishing, 2019) Ateş A.In the present study that measured the emotional intelligence of the students who were learning Turkish as a foreign language, the aim was to determine whether the emotional intelligence of the students affected their reading comprehension skills and reading anxiety. Thus, initially, the Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale was adapted for foreign students after the required approvals were obtained. Then, the correlations between the emotional intelligence of the students and their reading anxiety and reading comprehension skills were investigated. The analysis of the data collected from 138 students attending İnönü University Turkish Language Learning Research and Application Center (TÖMER) demonstrated that the level of emotional intelligence of the students decreased general level reading anxiety levels (ß =-6.69). It was also concluded that general emotional intelligence level of the students increased their reading comprehension skills (ß = 9.079). Furthermore, it was determined the general emotional intelligence scores of female students (x = 3.389) were higher than male students (x = 3.181) (t = 2.944; p = 0.004 <0.05). As a result, emotional intelligence of the foreign language learning students effects on the reading comprehension skills and the reading anxiety. © 2019 by authors, all rights reserved.
