    Magnetic properties of crystalline ?-MnS thin films

    We report temperature dependence of magnetic behavior of MnS thin films. Temperature ranges well below and above the transition point. The obtained magnetic measurements and the theoretical magnetic calculations suggest that the magnetic behavior of gamma-MnS is Curie like type at high temperatures. On the other hand in the low temperature region the magnetic arrangement is an ordered antiferromagnetic phase.

    Surprising magnetic behavior of cobalt(II) ion in recently prepared macrocycle complexes.: Distortion versus intermolecular antiferromagnetic exchange interactions

    The magnetic moment of the Co2+ stop ion in the newly reported macrocycle complex is analysed for various situations. It is realized that in order to obtain the observed magnetic moment, either some irrelevant parameters or some intermolecular antiferromagnetic interactions must be included in the magnetic Hamiltonian. It is suggested that the complex behaves as a largely distorted octahedron.

    UV-light absorption properties of Cr-doped polyethyleneglycol (PEG)/?-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS)/chelated-titanium coating materials prepared by the sol-gel process

    New hybrid inorganic-organic glass coating materials, which contain polyethyleneglycol/ gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane/ titanium(IV)-n-propoxide(2-methoxyethylacetoacetate)/ chromium(III) nitrate [PEG/GPTMS/Ti(OR)(2-MEAA)/Cr3+] have been developed for UV-light absorption by using the sol-gel process. The effect of agitation time and temperature on UV-light absorption was investigated. The titanium complex was characterized by H-1-NMR and FTIR spectroscopies. UV-Vis spectroscopy was used to investigate the optical properties of the coating materials. The results show that the coated glass has very low transmission in the UV region (300-400 nm) compared to the uncoated glass, especially at 150, 200, 250 and 300 degrees C treatment temperatures after 1- and 18-hour agitation times. The UV-light transmission of the coated glass was not different from the uncoated glass between 80-100 degrees C and 350-500 degrees C.
