Öğe The diagnostic efficacy of some ischemic markers (urotensin II and urotensin II related peptide) in early diagnosis of intestinal ischemia in experimentally increased intraabdominal pressure in rats(2019) Bozan, Mehmet Bugra; Ayten, Refik; Bulbuller, Nurullah; Camci, Cemalettin; Aygen, Erhan; İlhan, Necip; Ozercan, Hanfi Ibrahim; Azak Bozan, Ayse; Aksu, Ali; Kutluer, NizamettinAim: The purpose of this experimental study is evaluating the relation between plasma urotensin-II (U-II) and urotensin-II related peptide (URP) levels with intestinal ischemia caused by elevated intraabdominal pressure.Material-Methods: Wistar albino rats weighing 200–250 grams used.Group-1: Laparatomized group without abdominal pressure elevation in sixty minutes under general anesthesia.Group-2: Ten mmHg elevated intraabdominal pressure group in sixty minutes under general anesthesia.Group-3: Fifteen mmHg elevated intraabdominal pressure group in sixty minutes under general anesthesia.Group-4: Twenty mmHg elevated intraabdominal pressure group in sixty minutes under general anesthesia. After sacrifing, in general anesthesia blood and tissue samples were collected. Hematoxilen and eosyn stained tissue samples were examined under light microscope. Results: Plasma U-II levels changes insignificant in group 2 and 3 but in group-4 was changed significantly compared with the control group(respectevely p=0,609; p=0.848; p=0.04). Plasma URP levels changed significantly in all groups compared with the control group (p-values were p=0.018; p=0.018 and p=0.04 respectively). Conclusion: U-II levels could not be a useful parameter for the early diagnosis of the intestinal ischemic damage caused byintraabdominal pressure(IAP), because it is found in all vascular structures. On the other hand, plasma URP levels would be used for the early diagnosis of the intestinal ischemia. Because of the limitations of our study, we believe that our results should be confirmed with clinical studies. Keywords: Intrabdominal hypertension; intestinal ischemia; urotensin-ii; urotensin-ii related peptid; abdominal compartment syndrome.Öğe The effects of mythomycin C, hylan Gf20 and honey combinations on adhesion formation in laparotomized rats(2019) Sarac, Mehmet; İflazoglu, Nidal; Ergucuk, Hakan; Gursul, Serdar; Camci, CemalettinAim: Postoperative adhesions are stil unsolved important problems. Some studies have been showed that Mitomycine, Hylan GF20 and honey can decrease adhesion formation. This study; was planned to aim to compare the adhesion formation effects of Mitomycin C with Hylan GF-20, Mitomycin C with honey and Hylan GF-20 with honey combinations in the laparotomized rats. Material and Methods: Wistar-Albino 70 malerats, weight range between 180-220 gr, divided into 7 groups. After abrasion formation in the rats’ caecum wall and in the peritoneal surface at the localization of right lower quadrant of anterior abdominal wall, Mitomycin C, Hylan GF-20 and honey combinations used and seven days after operation the abdomen was opened for examination. Results: There were statistically significant differences between control group and the study groups according to adhesion formation scala. In all groups that agents were used adhesion formation was decreased, but when the groups comparing the agents used, there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusion: Mitomycin C, Hylan GF-20 and Honey usage in the laparotomized rats decrease adhesion formation. But the combinations of these agents do not show any additional effect to decrease adhesion formation.Öğe Rectum cancer: The effects of perioperative outcomes of patients as long-term prognostic factor(2019) Ondes Bayar, Ozlem; Tabak Dincer, Selvi; Akan, Arzu; Camci, Cemalettin; Eryavuz, M. YavuzAim: The majority of studies about adjacent segment disease (ASD) in the literature concern adult patients who were operated on because of degenerative process-related diseases, such as lumbar instability or lumbar stenosis.Material and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed cases of AIS surgically treated in our institution between 2012 and 2015. Patients with an increase in the amount of disc degeneration at adjacent segment (AS) (the ASD group) were compared with those with no increase in degeneration at AS (the non-ASD group). Results:ASD was observed postoperatively in 24 patients (57.1%), and 18 patients (42.9%) had no increase in disc degeneration at the latest follow-up.The mean follow-up was 13 to 34 months, with an average of 22±7.1 months and the lowest instrumented vertebra for 10 of the patients was L2, and the other 32 patients had L3. The rate of ASD in patients with fusion at T4-L3 was significantly higher than for the other instrumentation levels (p 0.05). All 24 patients in the ASD group had L3 as the lowest instrumented vertebra (LIV) (p 0.05).Conclusion: We believe that ASD is present even in short-term follow-up in patients who undergo long-segment fusion at a young age due to AIS and leaving as many mobile segments as possible will protect from ASD.
