Öğe The effect of the use of herbal supply on daily life activities containing OTC (chondroitin sulfate(Bayrakol Medical Publisher, 2020) Sevimli, Resit; Guler, Ahmet; Canakci, Mehmet; Emeli, Adem; Turkmen, ErsenAim: In this study, we aimed to compare pain, functional capacity, and quality of life of patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA), determine the factors affecting them, and investigate the effect of over-the-counter (OTC)-containing herbal supplementation on daily living activities in patients with knee OA. Materials and Methods: The study included 102 patients with the diagnosis of knee OA according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria who were admitted to our orthopedics and traumatology outpatient clinic between March 2019 and September 2019. Demographic data were recorded. The visual analog scale (VAS), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), medical outcomes study short-form health survey (SF-36) were used. The Kellgren-Lawrence scale was used for radiological evaluation. Information about the patients was determined by the questionnaire method and the patients were evaluated according to recruitment/exclusion criteria. In the study group, 102 patients with knee OA were included. On the other hand, 100 patients received a placebo as a control group. After three months of OTC supplementation, daily life activities and functional tests were performed and data were collected. Both subjective and objective data were calculated, compared, and analyzed. Results: It was observed that more than 80% of the patients with OA included in the study relieved pain with our food supplement components. There was an improvment in functional abilities of the patients with chronic OA as compared to standard medical treatment, and the pain level decreased significantly with test scores and scales after supplementary foods. The secondary endpoint was also noticed. We noticed that our subjects actually lost an average of 1.5 kg over the course of the study. Discussion: OA is the most common form of arthritis and the leading cause of disability among middle-aged and elderly people. We can develop theoretical strategies for primary prevention of joint damage through the reduction of obesity and joint trauma in particular. Effective chondroprotective therapies will be most useful when applied to high-risk individuals before the emergence of symptomatic OA. Conclusion: We concluded that food supplementation that was used in our study seemed to be beneficial in patients with knee ailments such as OA. It was equally interesting to observe that the majority of patients lost weight while taking these supplements. Although the study was underpowered, it shed light on supplements containing glucosamine. We believe that further larger series studies in the near future can help us to obtain more objective findings.Öğe Exchange rate response to economic policy uncertainty: evidence beyond asymmetry(Springernature, 2022) Chang, Bisharat Hussain; Derindag, Omer Faruk; Hacievliyagil, Nuri; Canakci, MehmetRecent studies have examined the relationship between economic policy uncertainty and exchange rate. We contribute to this literature by considering the effect of minor positive and major positive changes as well as minor negative and major negative changes in the economic policy uncertainties on the exchange rates. In this regard, we use a recently developed multiple asymmetric threshold nonlinear ARDL model along with Granger causality in quantile test. Our estimates support the asymmetric effect in three countries only when an asymmetric ARDL model is used. However, these estimates support asymmetric effects for all the sample countries when the multiple asymmetric threshold nonlinear ARDL model is used. Moreover, the effect varies across various quantiles when Granger causality in quantile test is used. Overall, the extended model helps us to examine more minutely the impact of EPU and GEPU on the exchange rate in G7 countries. The results of this study can be useful for the central banks to devise appropriate policies to intervene in the foreign exchange market.Öğe The Impact of Monetary Policy on Household Debt in China(Korea Distribution Science Assoc, 2021) Canakci, MehmetThere has been a massive increase in household debt in China, especially in the last five of years. Learning from past experiences, the country needs careful forecasting that may help to form new policies or make amendments to the existing ones. This research paper aims to highlight the impact of the monetary policy on household debt in China. The study covers the time period from 1996 to 2020 The study employs a cointegration test, Autoregressive Distributed Lag Bound Test (ARDL) approach, a Augmented Dicky Fuller (ADF) and PP test (PMG) and time series data. The findings suggest on a quantitative analysis using a time-series model in which gdp per capita and interest rate has a positive impact on household debt whereas, cpi doesn't have significant impact. In a short-term variables relationship, household debt responds more to an increase in income than in the long-term. Also, the impact of interest rate changes on household debt is lower than income in the short run.The research suggests that there should be some restrictions on household debt and consumer financing provided to citizens and for this, appropriate leverage measures should be taken in order for the central bank to sustain robust macroeconomic conditions.Öğe Information and communication technologies in e-commerce and e-governance(Iop Publishing Ltd, 2019) Derindag, Omer Faruk; Canakci, Mehmet; Tsarev, RomanThe development of information and communication technologies has reached a level where their use in business and governance is becoming not only expedient but also inevitable. The Internet and ICT have created the technical and technological foundation that can significantly improve the efficiency of public administration, provide businesses and citizens with access to necessary information, simplify bureaucratic procedures and reduce the time for decision making The paper describes the new conditions in which the business is developing. The article presents the features of the interaction of e-government and business, the impact of e-government on the development of the economy as a whole. The authors analyzed the process of development of technologies for e-governance and e-commerce. The authors identified the tasks that are solved by means of e-government. Also, the authors set up indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of the e-governance. The implementation of the e-government demonstrates advantages for the further development of the economic sector and the whole state in general.Öğe The Relationship Between Insurance and Economic Growth(Economic Laboratory Transition Research Podgorica-Elit, 2020) Senol, Zekai; Zeren, Fatma; Canakci, MehmetInsurance business has several important functions within the economic structure such as providing insurance through the premiums collected by the insurance companies against the risks for the economic structure, managing these premiums collected through using the financial institutional role, risk management and transfer of the premiums into productive areas. While continuing on its activities, insurance business also enhances the economic development. In this study, a research on the relationship between insurance business and economic growth was conducted by using the data from 36 countries from the period between the years 1985-2018. Results of the panel causality test introduced by Dumitrescu and Hurlin (2012) indicated that there is a mutual causality between life insurance business and economic growth & a one-way causality from economic growth to the non-life insurance business. These results bring the conclusions that rather than the non-life insurance business, life insurance business brings contributes more to the economic growth with the long term and regular resources that it provides.Öğe A socio-educational study on the evaluation of economic growth in selected countries(Univ Peruana Union, 2021) Canakci, MehmetThe agricultural sector, which has a wide range of economic and social effects, it has a strategic importance due to national income, employment, consumption expenditures, raw material supply to other sectors and its share in exports. In this context, this paper revisits the debate on the role of agriculture in promoting economic growth in a selection of selected agricultural countries. This study analyzes the links between agriculture variables and gross domestic product growth with the help of cointegration test, Autoregressive Distributed Lag Limit Test (ARDL) approach for the relevant period, Augmented Dicky Fuller (ADF) and PP test (PMG). The results show that the sustainable increase in agricultural income positively changes national income and is the driving force of growth; strong evidence was found showing that the increase in the agricultural workforce decreases the national income in the long term. This strong evidence supports the agro-growth hypothesis that shows that; in recent years, discussions on the relationship between the concept of sustainable growth and agricultural policy have become more prominent. For this reason, it is recommended that more and more countries contribute to solving economic growth problems by following and applying agricultural productivity methods.
