Öğe THE EXPERIENCES OF THE LIFEGUARDS WORKING ON THE COASTALS: A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON THE STUDENTS OF THE FACULTIES OF SPORTS SCIENCES(Int Journal Lifescience & Pharma Research, 2021) Bingol, Hulya; Celik, TalipLifeguards are individuals who have received special training to prevent accidents in the aquatic environment and to respond to life-threatening emergencies. Although drowning is preventable in the world, it is one of the leading causes of accidental deaths. According to the global report of drowning prepared by the World Health Organization, 372 thousand people die by drowning in the world every year. More than 90% of these deaths occur in low and middle-income countries. Among these provinces, Antalya and Mugla are the scene of more accidents as tourism centers where coastal tourism is developed. There is a need for lifeguards with proper physical preparation and controlled to increase safety on this shoreline. The qualitative research method was used in the research. The study is designed as a phenomenology study. The study group of the research consists of 8 lifeguards studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences of Inonu University and working on the coastlines. Since the meta-thematic analysis is carried out directly based on participant opinions, it can be stated that it is based on solid foundations in terms of validity and reliability. The texts conveyed by the interviews during the data resolution phase were subjected to thematic analysis by the researcher. As a result of the analysis of qualitative data, 4 main themes were formed. According to the frequency of expression of these themes; Experience, role model influence, career planning and work environment. As a result of these themes, it can be said that the lifeguard profession has an important place in the career orientation of the participants.Öğe The Impact of Regular Exercise on Life Satisfaction, Self-Esteem, and Self-Efficacy in Older Adults(Mdpi, 2023) Toros, Turhan; Ogras, Emre Bulent; Toy, Ali Burak; Kulak, Abdulaziz; Esen, Huseyin Tolga; Ozer, Sevket Cihat; Celik, TalipThis study employed the correlational survey model to examine how regular exercise influenced life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy in men over 65. The study sample included a total of 215 participants, of whom 110 exercised regularly (for at least 45 min, three times a week), while 105 engaged in no physical exercise. Regular exercisers were found to score significantly higher on life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy scales as compared to non-exercisers. These scores also increased significantly with age and prolonged exercise history. A moderate and positive correlation was detected between life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy among regular exercisers, while non-exercisers showed low to moderate correlations. The findings suggest that regular exercise can enhance life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy in the elderly male population. Such effects appear to be associated with greater age and lifetime exercise history, highlighting the value of regular physical exercise in improving the quality of life among older adults.Öğe Mental Training and Anxiety: Examining the Moderating Role of Gender in Athletes(Univ Illes Balears, 2024) Duyani, Mehdi; Celik, Talip; Karatas, Ozgiir; Ilkim, Mehmet; Karatas, Emine ortiirk; Yavuz, Cumaali; Dogar, YahyaThis study aimed to examine how gender may influence the relationship between mental training practices and anxiety levels in both individual and team athletes. Using a quantitative approach, data was gathered through convenience sampling using electronically administered questionnaires. A grand total of 348 athletes from secondary school, high school, and university teams in individual and team sports across four Turkish provinces took part in the event. The Mental Training Scale developed by Behnke et al. (2019) was used to evaluate mental training practices, while the Sports Anxiety Scale -2, created by Smith et al. (2006) and Smith, Smoll and Schutz (1990), was used to gauge levels of anxiety. The data analysis included various statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha for assessing scale reliability, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis to explore variable relationships, and bootstrap regression analysis to investigate the potential moderating effect of gender. The results showed that the predictor variables together explained about 9% of the variation in anxiety (R-2 = .084). There was a noteworthy correlation between mental training practices and anxiety, with mental training practices showing a beneficial impact beta = .30, p < .05). Additionally, gender was found to have a significant influence in a positive direction beta = 1.58, p < .001). In addition, a noteworthy moderating effect was found, suggesting that gender plays a role in the connection between mental training and anxiety beta = -.37, p < .001). It appears that female athletes on school teams are more inclined to incorporate mental training practices into their routines, leading to better anxiety management compared to male athletes who do not engage in such practices.Öğe Quality of Life Gains for Special Athletes in the Turkish Athletics Championship: A Study on Parent Perspectives (2023)(Univ Illes Balears, 2024) Karadag, Haci; Karata, Ozgiir; Dogar, Yahya; Ilkim, Mehmet; Yavuzs, Cumaali; Celik, Talip; Karatas, Emine OztiirkThis study examines the effects of sports involvement on the well-being of individuals with Down Syndrome who participated in the 2022 Turkish Athletics Championship, as reported by their parents.
