Objective: The research was carried out to determine the sexual distress levels of pregnant women and the affecting factors. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional research was conducted with 459 pregnant women in the Pregnancy Education Class of the Midwifery Department, Faculty of Health Sciences, located in a medical center between 01 March-31 May 2021. The data were collected with “The Female Sexual Distress Scale-Revised (FSDS-R)”. Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney-U test and Kruskal- Wallis test were used in the analysis of the data. Results: The mean age of the pregnant women was 28.68±5.552. It was determined that the median FSDS-R scores of the pregnant women were 7.0 (2.0-16.0) and according to the mean FSDS-R scores, 34.6% of the pregnant women experienced sexual distress. A statistically significant difference was found between the age, education level, trimester, some views of the pregnant women about sexuality and the median scores of FSDS-R of the pregnant women (p<.05). Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that sexual distress levels were higher in pregnant women who were under 30 years of age, had a secondary education level, and were in the first trimester of pregnancy. In addition, sexual distress levels were found to be higher in pregnant women who thought that “sexual intercourse during pregnancy may harm the baby”, “sexual intercourse during pregnancy is a source of stress for women” and “sexual intercourse during pregnancy may cause miscarriage”. © 2023, Dokuz Eylul University. Material and Methods: This research, which is designed as correlational and descriptive, was conducted with 232 pregnancies who are admitted to undergo double screening test in the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Polyclinic of a university hospital between June 2014 and February 2015. State Anxiety Scale in the collection of data and Personal identification form has been used. As we analysed data, we used Pearson correlation and Cronbach alpha reliability analysis test. Results: We found that the average age of the pregnant women, who participated to the research, was 27.35±6.42 years, that 15.9% of the same were aged between 15- 19, that 65.9% of the same were aged between 20-34, and that 18.9% of the same were included to the age group of ?35. It is determined that there is a moderate level significant correlation between the points of age and State Anxiety Scale (r=0.572)(p<0.001). It is determined that the State Anxiety Scale point average of pregnant women included to the age group of ?35 is significantly higher than the State Anxiety Scale point average of pregnant women aged between 15-19 and 20-34 (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is determined that the anxiety level increases as the age of pregnant women, who are admitted to undergo double screening test, increases. In this context, by health professionals prenatal screening test for pre-assessment, training and consultancy services entire the age factor to be taken into consideration and initiatives aimed at reducing the level of anxiety that may occur in this direction it is recommended that it be planned. © 2017 by Türkiye Klinikleri.Öğe Social physique anxiety levels and influential factors in women who have aesthetic surgery(OrtadogŸu Reklam Tanitim Yayincilik Turizm Egitim Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., 2017) Derya Y.A.; Taşhan S.T.; Duman M.; Nacar G.This study aimed to investigate social physique anxiety levels and influential factors in women who have aesthetic surgery. The women who learned about the aesthetic surgery they had from the media (e.g. TV, newspapers), and said that the people around them "judged/condemned" them for having aesthetic surgery, obtained higher total mean scores on the "Social Physique Anxiety Scale" than the other women (p< .05). Conclusion: The study also found that the waiting period for the aesthetic surgery was long, the women were mainly affected by their social environment and the media, and those who had negative feedback from their social environment had higher social physique anxiety. Methods: The present descriptive study was conducted at Health College of Inonu University between November 15 and December 01, 2012. The population was comprised of a total of 678 female students who studied Midwifery (n=212) and Nursing (n=466). No specific sample was chosen; therefore, all the participants were included within the scope of the study. However, the sample was comprised of a total of 365 students who volunteered to participate in the study. The data were obtained through the “Personal Information Form” and analyzed via such statistics as Pearson’s Chi-Squared test, Fisher’s exact test and t-test for independent groups. Results: The mean age of the participants was 20.28±1.99. While 46% of them studied midwifery, the remaining 54% studied nursing. The mean menarche age was 13.45±1.55 whereas the mean menstruation length was 5.61±1.88. The prevalence of irregular menstruation in the students was 23.8%. The study could not yield a correlation between irregular menstruation and age, presence of chronic disease and average daily sleep time with irregular menstruation (p>0.05). Those students who do not exercise regularly, had psychiatric disorders, regular drug users, in users of oral contraceptives, smoked and had higher Body-Mass Indices were more likely to suffer from irregular menstruation (p<0.05).
