Öğe Effect of neuro-linguistic programming on COVID-19 fear in kidney transplant patients: A randomized controlled study(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2022) Dogan, Aysel; Dogan, Runida; Menekli, Tugba; Berktas, Haci BayramThis study was conducted experimentally to evaluate the effect of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) on fear of COVID-19 in kidney transplant patients. The study was carried out between June 2021 and October 2021. The Personal Information Form and COVID-19 Fear Scale (FCV-19S) were used to collect data. The obtained data obtained were evaluated using the SPSS 25 software. NLP was found to reduce the fear of COVID-19 in kidney transplant patients. Clinical nurses can use NLP techniques to support patients with fear in similar patient groups. Patients can be provided with access to training programs where they can learn NLP techniques. Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT05115435.Öğe The effects of neuro-linguistic programming and guided imagery on the pain and comfort after open-heart surgery(Wiley, 2021) Dogan, Aysel; Saritas, SerdarObjective: The present study aims to evaluate the effects of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and guided imagery on postoperative pain and comfort after openheart surgery. Methods: In the current, prospective, randomized, single-blind clinical study, the participants received NLP with a new behavior formation technique or the guided imagery relaxation technique using an audio compact disc for a duration of 30 min. Results: The patients in the NLP group had significantly lower posttest pain levels, compared to the patients in the guided imagery and control groups. Moreover, the patients in the guided imagery group had significantly higher posttest comfort levels, compared to the patients in the NLP and control groups. Conclusion: The application of both NLP and guided imagery interventions resulted in reduced postoperative pain and increased postoperative comfort levels after open-heart surgery.Öğe Evaluation of Surgical Clinic Nurses' Knowledge Levels About Palliative Surgery(Sage Publications Inc, 2024) Dogan, Runida; Dogan, Aysel; Karasu, Fatma; Bagci, NazlicanBackground: Currently, palliative care plays an important role in increasingly aging populations and their long-term care needs. Surgical palliative care is important for improving quality of life. This study aimed to determine the knowledge level of nurses working in surgical clinics about palliative surgery. Method: This research was conducted as a descriptive study. We included 182 nurses working in surgical clinics who agreed to participate and met the inclusion criteria for participation in the study. The Personal Information and Palliative Surgery Information Forms were used to collect data. Data were collected between November 30, and December 15, 2022. The analysis of the data obtained was performed using the Statistical Program in Social Sciences (SPSS), Version 25. The level of significance was set at P < .05. Results: Nurses referred to palliative care as end-of-life care, 73.1% did not care for palliative care patients, and 84.6% did not receive training in palliative care. Surgical clinic nurses were found to have moderate knowledge about palliative surgery. A statistically significant difference was found between the average palliative surgery knowledge of surgical clinic nurses and those trained in education and palliative care (P < .05). Conclusions: The results of the study showed that surgical clinic nurses had moderate knowledge about palliative surgery. Moreover, the nurses who have received training in palliative care and had high level of education exhibited a higher level of knowledge.Öğe Isolated Congenital Hypoplasia of Nasal Lower Lateral Cartilages and Its Correction With Helical Rim and Conchal Cartilage Composite Grafts(Alliance Communications Group Division Allen Press, 2012) Coban, Yusuf Kenan; Dogan, Aysel; Erbatur, SerkanIsolated congenital absence of the alar cartilages and nasal septum is rarely reported. We report here an example for the phenotype of carbamazepine embryopathy with lower lateral cartilage hypoplasia and our surgical approach to solve the nasal problems. This unusual presentation and the literature surrounding infant nasal surgery are discussed.
