Öğe Cryptotanshinone mitigates ischemia reperfusion-induced testicular damage: A experimental study(2019) Tanyeli, Ayhan; Eraslan, Ersen; Ekinci Akdemir, Fazile Nur; Guler, Mustafa Can; Guzel Erdogan, Derya; Topdagi, Omer; Polat, ElifAim: The aim of this study is to investigate the protective effects of cryptotanshinone on ischemia reperfusion-induced testis damage. Materials and Methods: In this study, the rats were divided into 3 groups. Groups of the study are planned as follows; sham, ischemia reperfusion, and ischemia reperfusion+cryptotanshinone. Oxidant molecules such as total oxidant status (TOS), malondialdehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO) and antioxidant molecules like total antioxidant status (TAS), superoxide dismutase (SOD) with oxidative stress index (OSI) were evaluated in the testicular tissues obtained at the end of the experiment. Results: In ischemia reperfusion group, TAS and SOD levels decreased while other oxidant parameters were increased. But in ischemia reperfusion+cryptotanshinone group, the levels of anti¬oxidant parameters increased while the levels of oxidant parameters decreased. Conclusion: These results have shown us that cryptotanshinone is highly effective against oxidative testis damage caused by ischemia reperfusion.Öğe Determining the effects of Hyperoside as a protective agent against to testicular damage(2021) Ekinci Akdemir, Fazile Nur; Tanyeli, Ayhan; Guler, Mustafa Can; Eraslan, ErsenAim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the possible beneficial effects of hyperoside (HYP) in the mitigation of torsion detorsion (TD)-induced testicular oxidative damage. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, Wistar Albino rats were grouped (n=6 in each group) as sham, TD and TD+HYP groups. HYP was administered at 50 mg/kg dose p.o for 1 week. Torsion was created by twisting the spermatic cord clockwise by 720 degrees. The detorsion model was made by restoring the spermatic cord. Tissue oxidative and antioxidative stress parameters were measured according to biochemical methods to evaluate oxidative damage in testis. Results: In particular, the oxidative stress parameters we measured were found to be significantly increased compared to the sham group in TD group depending on the TD model, but showed a significant decrease depending on the HYP treatment (p0.05). In addition, it was observed that the antioxidative parameters decreased significantly in the TD group, while this decrease effectively changed in the TD+HYP group. Conclusion: Considering the current results, HYP therapy is thought to be useful in alleviating TD-induced oxidative damage in the testicles.Öğe Effects of alliin on renal ischemia reperfusion induced lung injury(2020) Guler, Mustafa Can; Eraslan, ErsenAim: Renal ischemia reperfusion (I/R) injury is a problematic process which leads to renal dysfunction and may be mortal for the patients in intensive care units. Increased oxidant molecules and decreased antioxidant molecules were detected in renal I/R-induced lung injury. In the present study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of Alliin on oxidative stress in renal I/R-induced lung injury. Material and Methods: A total of 32 Wistar Albino male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 8): Sham, I/R, I/R+Alliin 100 mg/kg and I/R+Alliin 200 mg/kg group. The effects of Alliin on oxidant and antioxidant molecules were evaluated via biochemical methods.Results: Alliin treatment increased antioxidant parameters and decreased oxidant parameters.Conclusion: Alliin has been shown to reduce oxidative stress and renal I/R-induced lung injury.
