Öğe Assessment of cystic lesions around the knee with MRI and their relationship with osteoarthritis(2019) Sharshebaev, Ruslan; Inan, Ibrahim; Senturk Gucel, SenemAim: The large number and different varieties of cysts and cyst-like lesions around the knee joints are commonly encountered on the magnetic resonance scanning. We aimed to evaluate type, frequency, and size of cystic lesions observed around the knee joints and to find out its relationship with osteoarthritis. Material and Methods: 620 knee joints belonging to 545 patients were enrolled in the study. We retrospectively examined magnetic resonance images of the knee joints which were divided into three groups as non-degenerative, mild degenerative, and severe degenerative. The cysts have been classified according to count, type and size and their relationship with knee osteoarthritis was assessed. Results: Out of 620 knees, 248 knees (40%) had no degenerative arthritis, 178 knees (28.7 %) had mild, and 194 knees had severe (31.3 %) degenerative arthritis. Cystic lesions were identified in 411 knees (66.3%). One cyst in 261 knees, two cysts in 102 knees, three cysts in 40 knees, and four cysts in 8 knees were encountered. Increased number and average diameter of the cysts showed statistically significant relation with the degree of osteoarthritis (p<0.001 and p=0.04, respectively). Moreover, some types of cysts such as synovial cysts, intraarticular ganglion cysts, and intraosseous cysts were significantly increased with osteoarthritis (p<0.001). Conclusion: There was significant increase in frequency, number, and average size of knee joint cysts in patients with degenerative arthritis findings. In addition, almost all cyst types except intrameniscal and parameniscal cysts, were found more frequently in the knees with degenerative arthritis.Öğe Comparison of likert and PI-RADS v2 scoring in the diagnosis of prostate cancer(2018) Inan, Ibrahim; Aktan, Ahmet; Ozkanli, Sidika Seyma; Yildirim, Asif; Aslan, Ahmet; Senturk Gucel, Senem; Erturk, Sukru MehmetAim: We aimed to compare the inter- and intra-observer variability and diagnostic performance of PI-RADS v2 and Likert scoring in the evaluation of prostate cancer on multiparametric prostate MR imaging. Material and Methods: MRI findings of 53 patients who had histopathologic diagnosis of prostate cancer and 51 patients who had one or more negative transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy were evaluated retrospectively. The images were assessed by three independent observers blinded to histopathologic results of the patients. Intra-observer and inter-observer variability were evaluated by Cohen’s Kappa coefficient for all possible pairs of observers. ROC curve analysis was used to determine AUC to evaluate diagnostic performance of Likert and PI-RADS v2 scoring with a 1.5T MR in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Results: Kappa values for 4 or higher PI-RADS v2 scores were calculated and κ=0.59-0.71 for intra-observer and κ=0.48-0.67 for inter-observer variability were obtained. κ=0.54-0.69 for intra-observer and κ=0.42-0.75 for inter-observer reliability were obtained for 4 or higher Likert scoring. AUC was 72% for PI-RADS v2 scores and was 75.9% for Likert scores for determining Gleason 6 or higher prostate cancers. There was not a statistically significant difference in the comparison of Likert and PI-RADS v2 ROC curves. Conclusion: PI-RADS v2 has no significant superiority compared to Likert scoring in intra-observer and inter-observer reliability. Likert and PI-RADS v2 scoring has no difference in the terms of diagnostic capability of prostate cancers.Öğe Evaluation of the relationship between concha bullosa and nasal septum deviation with diameter of nasolacrimal duct(2019) Sirik, Mehmet; Inan, IbrahimAim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of concha bullosa (CB) and nasal septal deviation (NSD) on the diameter nasolacrimal duct (NLD). Material and Methods: A total of 103 patients who underwent paranasal sinus (PNS) computed tomography (CT) between January 2018 and May 2018 were included in the study. Coronary and axial CT images of the patients were evaluated for the presence of CB and NSD. Left and right NLD diameters were measured from axial CT plane. To ensure standardization, the NLD diameters measurement was performed from the CT sections at the level of the inferior border of bilateral bulbusoculi in all patients. The relationship between the CB, NSD and NLD was statistically analyzed. Results: Of the 103 patients included in the study, 51 (49.5%) were males and 52 (50.5%) were females. The minimum age of the patients was 18 years, the maximum age was 79 years and the median age was 38 years. Forty patients (38.8%) had CB and 63 patients (61.2%) had no CB. Nasal septum was in the midline in 39 patients (37.9%) and NSD was present in 64 patients (62.1%). The median NLD diameter was 5.8 mm on the right and left side. NLD diameter was significantly smaller in females than males(p<0.05). There was no statistically significant relationship between CB, NSD and the NLD diameter. Conclusion: In our study, there was no significant effect of the presence of concha bullosa and nasal septum deviation on the nasolacrimal duct diameter
