Öğe Bullous dermatosis in the southeastern of Turkey: A study of125 cases(2022) Mantar, Irem; Saraç, Gülbahar; Karatoprak, Hacer Vural; Cenk, HülyaAim: Autoimmune bullous diseases occur when antibodies against proteins such as desmosomes and hemidesmosomes cause separation in the skin. Detailed epidemiological studies examining these diseases are limited in our country. We aim to contribute to the demographic, clinical, and treatment data on bullous diseases from an important geographic region of our country. Materials and Methods: The data of 125 cases who were followed up with a diagnosis of bullous disease between 2006 and 2019 were evaluated retrospectively. Socio-demographic characteristics, diagnoses, age and duration of disease onset, clinical findings, accompanying systemic diseases, treatments given, and side effects related to treatment were recorded. Results: 57.6% of the patients (72 people) were diagnosed as pemphigus, 31.2% (39 people) bullous pemphigoid (BP), 8% (10 people) dermatitis herpetiformis (DH), 3.2% (4 people) linear Ig A dermatosis ( LAD). BP patients were found to be significantly older than the other patients (p = 0.002). While pemphigus, BP, and LAD were more common in women, 70% of DH patients were men. Malignancy was detected in 2.8% of pemphigus patients and 5.1% of BP patients. Accompanying autoimmune disease was found in 9.7% of pemphigus patients, 17.9% of BP patients, and 20% of DH patients. The only systemic steroid was used in 20.8% of pemphigus patients, and azathioprine as a conventional agent was used in 76.4% with systemic steroid. Rituximab was started in patients who did not respond to therapy. The systemic steroid was used in 35.9% of BP patients, and azathioprine with systemic steroid was used in 43.6% of BP patients. Doxycycline was added to the treatment in 41% of the patients. Rituximab was used in 5 (12.8%) patients. Conclusion: Since our study is the first data obtained on bullous diseases from the southeastern Anatolia region, it is useful for the literature in terms of providing a basis for future studies. İremÖğe Evaluation of the level of knowledge, source of information, application story and satisfaction about dermocosmetic procedures in Turkish society through a web-based questionnaire(2023) Türkmen, Dursun; Karatoprak, Hacer Vural; Altunışık, Nihal; Özbey, RafetAim: There have been very important advances in the field of dermato-cosmetology in recent years. Due to the advances in cosmetology, the emergence of new products, the emergence of new laser devices, the interest of patients in cosmetological applications has increased. We aim to investigate the knowledge and experience of our society about cosmetic procedures, the frequency of the procedures, and the satisfaction rates. Methods: Sociodemographic characteristics such as age, gender, occupation, and monthly income of all individuals participating in the survey were recorded. The first dimension of the questionnaire includes demographic characteristics, and the second dimension includes questions about procedures. Results: The most common dermo-cosmetic application known to the participants was laser epilation (56.3%). The most common sources of information are social media and the internet. While 57.5% of the participants stated that they did not have any cosmetic application, the most frequently applied cosmetic procedure was laser epilation with 27.7%. 40.7% of the participants had cosmetic applications to look young and beautiful. Participants had the procedure performed most frequently at the beauty center with 51.6%. Conclusion: According to the results of our survey, a significant part of our society obtains information about dermocosmetic applications from social media and internet. It has been determined that cosmetic applications are still made intensively by people who are not physicians. The society needs to be properly informed about this issue.Öğe Retrospective analysis of the frequency and variety of skin lesions in patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis and examined by dermatology in a tertiary health care facility(2023) Türkmen, Dursun; Kılıc, Talat; Karatoprak, Hacer VuralAim: The aim of this retrospective study is to examine the frequency and clinical features of skin lesions in patients with sarcoidosis and to compare them with the literature. Materials and Methods: The files of patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis in the last 10 years in our hospital were reviewed retrospectively. Age, gender, age at diagnosis, dermatology consultation or dermatological examination findings were recorded for all patients. Results: Thirty (69.8%) of the patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis were female and 13 (30.2%) were male. The mean age was 49.7 ± 12.2. When the patients are grouped according to the age ranges at which they are diagnosed, there are 1 (%2.3) patient between the ages of 10-19, 4 (%9.3) patients between the ages of 20-29, 6 (%13.9) patients between the ages of 30-39, 16 (%37.2) patients between the ages of 40-49, 8 (%18.6) patients between the ages of 50-59 and 8 (%18.6) patients over the age of 60. The mean age at which female patients were diagnosed with sarcoidosis was 47.56±12.85, and the mean age at which male patients were diagnosed with sarcoidosis was 41.86±13.81 years. The mean follow-up period of the patients was 4.0±3.1 years. Thirty-one (72.1%) of all patients were examined in dermatology. Dermatological findings including erythema nodosum were detected in 8 (18.6%) patients. Conclusion: Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic disease that can progress with various clinical findings and should be considered in the differential diagnosis with its frequent or rare findings. In this study, in which the data of patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis in the last 10 years in our hospital were evaluated, our findings were generally similar to the literature data.
