Öğe The correlation between loneliness and substance use proclivity in child and adolescent substance users(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2022) Kayaoglu, Kubra; Okanli, Ayse; Budak, Funda Kavak; Aslanoglu, ErenPurpose: The study was designed to determine the relationship between loneliness and substance use proclivity in child and adolescent substance users. Method: The study was conducted at the Substance Abuse Treatment Center for children and adolescents (CEMATEM) of a psychiatric hospital. A descriptive characteristics form, the UCLA Loneliness Scale, and the Substance Use Proclivity Scale were used to collect the data. The percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, and Pearson's Correlation tests were used to analyze the data. Results: The results of this study revealed that both the loneliness total mean and substance use proclivity total mean scores of the participants were 22.16 +/- 2.49 (high) and 28.91 +/- 1.76 (high), respectively. A statistically significant and positive correlation was also found to exist between the participant's total mean scores of the loneliness and substance use proclivity scales (p < .01). Practice implications: The lonelier the pediatric and adolescent patients participating in the study felt, the higher their substance use proclivity became.Öğe The effect of psychoeducation given to psychiatry nurses on level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding physical restraint: A randomized controlled study(Wiley, 2019) Kavak, Funda; Yilmaz, Emine; Okanli, Ayse; Aslanoglu, ErenPurpose This study aims to determine the effect of psychoeducation, given to nurses working in a psychiatry clinic, on level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding physical restraint. Design and Methods This study was conducted with a randomized-controlled-study design. A total of 111 nurses were recruited and randomly assigned to experimental (n = 53) and control (n = 58) groups. The experimental group received psychoeducation, while no intervention was applied to the control group. This study was conducted in a psychiatric hospital located in the Eastern Anatolia of Turkey. A Descriptive Form and the Levels of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Nurses Regarding Physical Restraints Questionnaire were used to collect data. Findings Statistically significant differences were found between the pretest and posttest total mean scores on the level of knowledge (P = .000), attitudes (P = .000), and practices (P = .000) of the nurses in the control group and the study group. Practice Implications An increase in the level of knowledge and positive improvement in attitudes and practices were observed in the nurses who received psychoeducation. Providing nurses with psychoeducation on physical restraint can positively contribute to improving their level of knowledge and to eliminating their negative attitudes and practices on this subject.Öğe Stigma Resistance Scale: A Psychometric Study in a Turkish Mental Illness Sample(Slack Inc, 2023) Okanli, Ayse; Budak, Merve Inan; Yilmaz, Emine; Ozdemir, Yusuf OzayAccording to the results, acceptable adaptation values were computed (& chi;2/ SD = 1.840, root-mean-square error of approximation = 0.06, standardized root-mean-square residuals = 0.070, comparative fit index = 0.96). In light of the findings, it was concluded that the Turkish version of the Stigma Resistance Scale could be used as a reliable and valid tool in assessing stigma resistance of Turkish psychiatric patients. Health care professionals may use this instrument in clinical practice to identify patients with mental illness who are experiencing stigma. [Psychiatr Ann.
