Öğe Evaluation of Tpe-interval and Tpe/QT, Tpe/QTc ratios in patients with premature ovarian failure(2019) cekici, Yusuf; Kilic, Salih; Saracoglu, Erhan; Ovayolu, Ali; Yilmaz, Mucahid; Duzen, Veysel IrfanAim: Ventricular repolarization were evaluated in patients who had POF by using novel electrocardiographic parameters including Tpe-interval and Tpe/QT and Tpe/QTc ratios. A few studies have investigated the association between premature ovarian failure (POF) and cardiovascular diseases. However, none have examined ventricular repolarization in this respect.Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 60 female patients with POF (mean 32.6±4.7 years) and 54 control healthy female subjects (mean 30.9±4.6 years). All electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements were performed by a cardiologist using a computer, and the Tpe-interval, Tpe/QT, and Tpe/QTc were compared between groups. Results: There were no significant differences between groups in terms of baseline characteristics and laboratory parameters. The Tpe-interval, Tpe/QT, and Tpe/QTc were significantly prolonged in POF group than control subjects (p0.001 for all). There was a strong and positive correlation between the serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level and Tpe-interval (r=0.681; p0.001) and Tpe/QTc (r= 0.636; p0.001). Furthermore, high and negative correlation was found between serum estradiol and Tpe-interval (r=-0.531; p0.001) and Tpe/QTc (r=-0.510). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that that the FSH and estradiol level were independent predictors of both the Tpe-interval (B=0.541 and p0.001, B=-0.202 and p0.001, respectively) and Tpe/QTc (B=0.442 and p0.001, B= -0.239 and p0.001, respectively). Conclusion: It was concluded in the study that ECG parameters of ventricular repolarization, namely, Tpe-interval, Tpe/QT, and Tpe/QTc were significantly prolonged in patients that had POF.Öğe Progesterone Inhibits Human Myometrial Contractions by its Action on Membrane Receptors(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2013) Gokdeniz, Remzi; Ovayolu, Ali; Garfield, Robert E.Purpose: The mechanisms for myometrial inhibition are still being investigated. The aim of this article is to examine mechanisms of progesterone (P4) inhibition of uterine contractility. Methods: Prospective study Tertiary care center at St. Joseph's Hospital and at Maricopa Hospital, Phoenix, AZ and research center in Arizona, USA. During 2010-2011 24 women were given birth by cesarean section. Uterine tissues from women (n= 24) at term were suspended in organ chambers and exposed to various agents. Contractility was recorded and compared before and after addition of agents. Tissues were treated with P4 alone, a progestin (R5020) with low affinity to the progesterone membrane receptor (mPR), or a non-sex steroid (cholesterol). Other tissues were pretreated with inhibitors of adenylate cyclase (SQ 22536), phosphodiesterase (rolipram), nitric oxide ( NO) synthases (L-NAME) or a nuclear P4 receptor antagonist (mifepristone, MIF), followed by P4. Data were analyzed by ANOVA. Results: P4 (P< 0.05) inhibits uterine contractions. R5020 and cholesterol have little P> 0.05) inhibitory effects. P4 inhibition is not blocked by MIF, SQ, ODQ, rolipram or L-NAME ( P> 0.05). Conclusions: P4 rapidly inhibits myometrial contractility by nongenomic mechanisms through action on mPR but not via cAMP, cGMP, or NOÖğe Progesterone inhibits human myometrial contractions by its action on membrane receptors(Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi, 2013) Gökdeniz, Remzi; Ovayolu, Ali; Garfield, E. RobertÖz: Başlık (İngilizce): Öz (İngilizce): In this paper, a distributed-parameter state variable approach is used to calculate transients on transmission lines based on the concept of travelling waves. The method of characteristics for lossless line is used and the state equations are derived for the system. These equations are converted to a set of difference equations using the trapezoidal rule of integration and solved in time domain using LU decomposition. Single- and multi-phase transmission lines with various linear and non-linear terminations are considered in the illustrative examples. State-space modeling of transposed lines using modal decomposition is introduced and the effects caused by lumped parameter approximation of line losses are described. Comparisons with the results obtained by EMTP and conventional methods based on s-domain are given.Öğe Rat uterin horn adezyon modelinde postoperatif adezyonun önlenmesine resveratrolün etkisi(İnönü Üniversitesi, 2005) Ovayolu, AliRat uterin hom adezyon modelinde, adezyon oluşumunun engellenmesine şaraptaki doğal bir fitoöstrojen olan resveratrolün etkisini araştırmaktır.
