Öğe Effectiveness of learner-centered methods in elevating positive attitudes towards English: Meta-analysis study(Mehmet Tekerek, 2024) Uzum, Burhan; Ozbek, RamazanThis paper analyzed the effect of learner-centered methods (cooperative learning, drama and projectbased learning) on learners' attitudes towards English lesson. Meta-analysis method was used in the study. 24 studies (25 effect sizes) were discovered through literature review. Analyzes were done using random effects model. Learner-centered methods in foreign language teaching had a large (g=0.925, 95% CI [0.642-1.209], p<.0.000) effect on learners' attitudes towards English lesson. The publication bias was interpreted both visually through Funnel plot and statistically via Rosenthal Classic fail-safe N and Orwin fail-safe N methods. Year of publication, the place of the research, publication type, the method applied, language skill, teaching level, experimental application duration and sample size were identified as moderators. It was concluded that Q-value for the effect sizes for publication year, language skill and teaching level was statistically meaningful and effective on the heterogeneity of effect sizes. One of the remarkable results was that the longer the experimental application period, the more effective it was in increasing positive attitudes towards the lesson.Öğe Evaluation of Teachers' Opinions on Values Education Practices in Primary Schools(Dergipark Akad, 2023) Ozbek, Ramazan; Erzen, VeysiValues education enables an individual to construct personality by internalizing his/her values. From this point of view, education has an important role in the acquisition of values. Especially, teachers' views, who are the implementers of education, play a vital role about the practices of values education in primary school which is an important period in the construction of an individual's personality. The main purpose of the research is to examine the values education practices implemented within the framework of primary school curriculum in relation to teachers' views. The study group of the research consists of 17 classroom teachers who work in the city center of Batman in 2021-2022 academic year and agree to participate in the study voluntarily. The data obtained from 14 teachers have been evaluated since sufficient data could not been gathered from the three of the teachers who participated in the research. Case study which is a qualitative research model was used in the research. Semi-structured interview form was created as data collection tool and document analysis method was used in data analysis. According to the results obtained, teachers consider values education important and necessary but find it insufficient. Students' family and environment are seen as important factors in the reflection of values education practices on students' behaviors. Although teachers have an important role in bringing the students values in, it has been concluded that they have challenges in changing students' false prejudices, environmental conditions such as media and press affect students' false value perceptions negatively and to prevent this, environmental conditions need to be arranged in a way to support values education.
