Öğe Anti-HAV IgG seropositivity in children aged between 2-16 years who were admitted to Turgut Ozal Medical Center(Aves, 2006) Ozen, Metehan; Yologlu, Saim; Isik, Yuksel; Tekerekoglu, Mehmet SaitObjective: We aimed to determine the seropositivity of hepatitis A infection in patients aged between 2-16 years who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of a university hospital in Eastern Anatolia. Material and Method: We studied 685 subjects, aged between 2-16 years, who were admitted to our Department between 2004 January and 2005 July. We used chi(2) test to evaluate serological results. Results: There is statistically significant increase of hepatitis A seropositivity in subjects attending school when compared with subjects before primary school (chi(2): 18,46, p< 0,00001). There is no significant difference of serological results between subjects of rural and urban origin (.2: 0,82, p= 0,365). Conclusions: Age of exposure to hepatitis A infection for children is increasing towards puberty. Hepatitis A vaccination should be recommended for susceptible children before attending primary school.Öğe AntiHBs seropositivity in children aged between 2-16 years who were admitted to Turgut Ozal Medical Center(Aves, 2006) Ozen, Metehan; Yologlu, Saim; Isik, Yusel; Yetkin, GuayObjective: We aimed to determine the ratio of antiHBs seropositivity in patients aged between 0-16 years who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of a university hospital in Eastern Anatolia. In addition, we wanted to show if there is any difference in children who were born after implementation of hepatitis B vaccine into national immunization programme. Material and Method: We studied 989 subjects, aged 2 months-16 years, who were admitted to our Department between 2004 January and 2005 July. We used x2 test to evaluate the serological results. Results: There is statistically significant decrease of antiHBs seropositivity with increasing age (x2: 72.8, p< 0.00001). On the contrary, there is significant increase in ratio of antiHBc-IgG seropositivity with increasing age (x2: 27.2, p< 0.0001). Conclusions: The ratio of antiHBs seropositivity is increasing in subjects born after implementation of hepatitis B vaccine into national immunization scheme, though not reached to targeted level yet.Öğe Aortic aneurysm(Galenos Yayincilik, 2007) Karakurt, Cemsit; Kocak, Guelendam; Selimoglu, Ayse; Ozen, Metehan[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Brusellaya Bagli Trombositopenik Purpura(Aves Yayincilik, Ibrahim Kara, 2009) Ozen, Metehan; Ozgen, Unsal; Gungor, SerdalBrucellar infections are still a major public health issue in Mediterranean countries. Brucellosis may cause hematological abnormalities, particularly cytopenias. Severe thrombocytopenia leading to mucosal bleeding and purpuric rash is relatively infrequent. We herewith present three patients who were admitted with mucosal bleeding and purpura, and were finally diagnosed as brucellosis. The severe isolated thrombocytopenia, purpuric rash and compatible bone marrow findings on admission suggested the presumed diagnosis of ITP in all cases. All three patients received different treatment regimens and finally recovered without complications. There is no consensus regarding the management of brucella-induced thrombocytopenic purpura in the literature. The hematological consequences of brucellosis should always be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of isolated thrombocytopenia in endemic areas.Öğe Early Results of Anatomic Double Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction(Derman Medical Publ, 2015) Pepele, Demet; Karakaplan, Mustafa; Elmali, Nurzat; Topgul, Haldun; Ozen, MetehanAim: The goal in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is to restore the normal anatomic structure and function of the knee. In the significant proportion of patients after the traditional single-bundle ACLR, complaints of instability still continue. Anatomic double bundle ACLR may provide normal kinematics in knees, much closer to the natural anatomy. The aim of this study is to clinically assess the early outcomes of our anatomical double bundle ACLR. Material and Method: In our clinic between June 2009 and March 2010, performed the anatomic double bundle ACLR with autogenous hamstring grafts 20 patients were evaluated prospectively with Cincinnati, IKDC and Lysholm scores and in clinically for muscle strength and with Cybex II dynamometer. Results: The mean follow-up is 17.8 months (13-21 months). Patients' scores of Cincinnati, IKDC and Lysholm were respectively, preoperative 18.1, 39.3 and 39.8, while the post-op increased to 27.2, 76.3 and 86.3. In their last check, 17 percent of the patients according to IKDC scores (85%) A (excellent) and B (good) group and 3 patients took place as C (adequate) group. The power measurements of quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups of patients who underwent surgery showed no significant difference compared with the intact knees. Discussion: Double-bundle ACL reconstruction is a satisfactory method. There is a need comparative, long-term studies in large numbers in order to determine improving clinical outcome, preventing degeneration and restoring the knee biomechanics better.Öğe The effect of graded motor imagery training on pain, functional performance, motor imagery skills, and kinesiophobia after total knee arthroplasty: randomized controlled trial(Korean Pain Soc, 2023) Candiri, Busra; Talu, Burcu; Guner, Emre; Ozen, MetehanBackground: The aim was to investigate the effect of graded motor imagery (GMI) added to rehabilitation on pain, functional performance, motor imagery ability, and kinesiophobia in individuals with total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods: Individuals scheduled for unilateral TKA were randomized to one of two groups: control (traditional rehabilitation, n = 9) and GMI (traditional rehabilitation + GMI, n = 9) groups. The primary outcome measures were the visual analogue scale and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). Secondary outcome measures were knee range of motion, muscle strength, the timed up and go test, mental chronometer, Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3, lateralization performance, Central Sensitization Inventory, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, and Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale. Evaluations were made before and 6 weeks after surgery. Results: Activity and resting pain were significantly reduced in the GMI group compared to the control group (P < 0.001 and P = 0.004, respectively). Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3 scores and accuracy of lateralization performance also showed significant improvement (P = 0.037 and P = 0.015, respectively). The Pain Catastrophizing Scale and Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale scores were also significantly decreased in the GMI group compared to the control group (P = 0.039 and P = 0.009, respectively). However, GMI did not differ significantly in WOMAC scores, range of motion, muscle strength, timed up and go test and Central Sensitization Inventory scores compared to the control group (P > 0.05). Conclusions: GMI improved pain, motor imagery ability, pain catastrophizing, and kinesiophobia in the acute period after TKA.Öğe Isolated Pulmonary Langerhans-Cell Histiocytosis Mimicking Miliary Tuberculosis(Aves Yayincilik, Ibrahim Kara, 2009) Ozen, Metehan; Akcakaya, Necla; Camcioglu, Yildiz; Cokugras, Haluk; Oz, BugeIsolated involvement of lungs in the course of Langerhans'-cell histiocytosis (LCH) is very rare in childhood. Spontaneous pneumothorax (PTX) may occur during the course which necessitates rapid intervention. We present a 17 months-old girl who was sent with the pre-diagnosis of miliary tuberculosis. Despite antituberculosis therapy, her pulmonary function deteriorated. The chest tomography showed a different lung pattern which is suggestive of LCH. The biopsy findings and immunohistochemistry staining supported the diagnosis. She experienced recurrent pneumothorax incidences which were managed by drainage. She responded well to chemotherapy. Although rare, isolated pulmonary LCH should be remembered in differential diagnosis of cystic lung disease in childhood. On time diagnosis, appropriate therapy and rapid intervention for pneumothorax have important impacts on patient prognosis.
