Öğe Can Apelin-13 be a new actor in control of obesity?(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Tekin, S.; Erden, Y.; Etem, E.; Sandal, S.; Colak, C.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Chronic intracerebroventricular apelin-13 infusion in rats increases daily food intake and body weight by reducing leptin levels(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Sandal, S.; Tekin, S.; Yilmaz, B.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Comparison of two adhesive systems of various polyetheretherketone (PEEK) composites on the shear bond strength(2021) Demirci, Fatih; Tekin, S.Abstract: Aim: In this in vitro study, the effect of two adhesive systems applied to surfaces of different polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) composites on the shear bond strength (SBS) of a composite resin was compared. Methodology: Eighty PEEK specimens were divided into four groups (n=20): Unfilled PEEK (UF), carbon-fiber-reinforced PEEK (CFR), glassfiber-reinforced PEEK (GFR), and ceramic-reinforced PEEK (CR). Each group was further divided into two subgroups (n=10): Visio.link (VL) and Single Bond Universal (SB). The specimens with 8-mm diameter and 5-mm thickness were prepared. SBS was examined using a universal testing machine. Results were statistically analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance and Tukey’s post-hoc test. Failure modes were analyzed using a stereomicroscope at 20× magnification. Surface properties were examined by scanning electron microscopy. The surface properties of the specimens were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: Effect of different PEEK and adhesive systems on SBS was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). SBS values for CFR-VL and UF-VL groups were statistically more significant than those for CFR-SB and UF-SB groups. SBS values for the GFR-VL group were statistically more significant than that for the UF-VL group. SBS values for the CF-SB group were statistically more significant than those for CFR-SB and CFR-SB groups. Failure modes were examined using a stereomicroscope at 20× magnification, and adhesive and mixed failure modes were observed. Conclusion: PEEK composites with different contents and properties can be used in fixed prosthetic restorations. However, additional experimental and clinical studies are required to investigate different PEEK frameworks and composite veneers.Öğe Determination of antitumor properties of synthesized chalcone-phosphazenes containing dioxybiphenyl groups against PC-3 and LNCaP cell lines(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Tekin, S.; Koran, K.; Ozen, F.; Sandal, S.; Gorgulu, A. Thirty-one primary infertile varicocoele patients and 31 fertile control patients evaluated for determining the levels of ADMA, TOC, OSI, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), TAC, and semen analysis. The patients' preoperative SOD, GSH and TAC levels, which were significantly lower than the controls, significantly increased postoperatively. Although SOD and GSH were significantly higher in spermatic vein compared to median cubital vein, TAC was significantly higher in median cubital vein. ADMA, TOC and OSI were significantly higher in the patient group. TOC and OSI were significantly higher in spermatic vein compared to median cubital vein. Postoperative TOC, OSI and ADMA reduced to the control levels. Total antioxidant capacity in the peripheral circulation and oxidative stress index in the internal spermatic vein could give an idea about the possible improvement in sperm count acquired by varicocoelectomy.Öğe Effects of central salusin-beta infusion on pituitary-thyroid axis in rats(Wiley, 2019) Tekin, S.; Demir, I; Ozyalin, F.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Effects of chronic central administration of irisin on food intake, body weight and body temperature in the rats(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Tekin, S.; Erden, Y.; Colak, C.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe The effects of chronic intraperitoneally infusion of irisin on liver antioxidant balance in rats(Wiley, 2017) Tekin, S.; Cakir, M.; Beytur, A.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe EFFECTS OF INTRACEREBROVENTRICULAR FGF21 INFUSION ON THE ENERGY METABOLISM(Wiley, 2017) Yilmaz, U.; Tekin, S.; Demir, M.; Cigremis, Y.; Sandai, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Effects of intracerebroventricular infusion of apelin-13 on the metabolism rate and energy expenditure(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Sandal, S.; Erden, Y.; Tekin, S.; Etem, E.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Effects of N-(p-amylcinnamoyl) anthranilic acid (ACA) on various human cancer cell lines(Wiley, 2017) Tekin, S.; Cakir, M.; Beytur, A.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Effects of saxagliptin on human prostate and breast cancer: An in vitro study(Wiley, 2017) Tekin, S.; Beytur, A.; Cakir, M.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Estimation of the relationships between irisin concentration and food intake, body weight and body temperature using polynomial regression models in the rats(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Tekin, S.; Colak, C.; Erden, Y.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Investigation on the effect of nano-TiO2 synthesized by the hydrothermal method on LNCaP cancer cells(Bulgarian Acad Science, 2017) Emre, F. B.; Okusluk, F.; Tekin, S.; Sandal, S.The nanosized TiO2 synthesis was performed through the hydrotheimal method by using titanium alkoxides. The structural, physical and chemical characteristics of the nanosized TiO2 were determined via XRD, SEM and particle size analyzer. The synthesized nano-TiO2 particles were obtained in a completely anatase form. Different concentrations of nano-TiO2's turned into sol were applied into the LNCaP cells in the cell culture media, and their antitumour/proliferation activities were tried to be determined photocatalytically with and without the UV-ray. For this, the numbers of living and dead cells were detected by means of MTT method, and thus, the anticancer characteristic was determined.Öğe MOTS-c as a predictor of coronary lesions and complexity in patients with stable coronary artery disease(Verduci Publisher, 2022) Yasar, E.; Cakmak, T.; Bayramoglu, A.; Karaku, Y.; Tekin, S.; Sekerci, G.; Turkoglu, C.OBJECTIVE: Atherosclerosis plays a major role in the development of coronary artery disease (CAD). It has been shown that mitochondrial open-reading-frame of the twelve S rRNA-c (MOTS-c), a mitochondrial-derived peptide, has preventive effects on atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship be-tween MOTS-c levels and CAD presence and se-verity using SYNTAX score (SS) in patients with stable angina pectoris. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Ninety-two consecutive patients with stable coronary artery dis-ease (CAD+) and ninety-two consecutive patients with normal coronary artery (CAD-) were included. Presence and severity of coronary artery disease were determined using the SS. RESULTS: We observed that the MOTS-c levels was lower in the CAD group (111 +/- 13 vs. 161 +/- 23, p < 0.001). The MOTS-c levels were also found to be significant independent predictors for CAD in multiple regression analysis (p < 0.001). A MOTS-c levels & GE;130.9 had 80.3% sensitivity and 73.2% specificity (area under the curve [AUC]: 0.858, 95% CI: 0.895-0.999, p < 0.001) for predicting CAD. CONCLUSIONS: The authors revealed that there is a strong correlation between MOTS-c levels and CAD. Therefore, MOTS-c may help identify patients with CAD, thus allowing for early preventive treatment.Öğe New synthesized phosphazenes containing chalcone on human prostate cancer cell lines: An in vitro study(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Tekin, S.; Koran, K.; Ozen, F.; Sandal, S.; Cil, E.; Gorgulu, A. Flowers(Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2018) Keser, S.; Keser, F.; Kaygili, O.; Tekin, S.; Demir, E.; Turkoglu, I.; Turkoglu, S.; Parlak, A.E.Hypericum scabrum L. has been widely used in traditional medicine for the treatment of many diseases just as the other Hypericum species. In the present study, the antiradical, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of water and ethanol extracts of H. scabrum flowers were investigated. Their phytochemical contents and composition were also determined. The water and ethanol extracts are better scavenged ABTS (97.89 and 98.99%) and OH radicals (96.36 and 97.33%); the water extract is better scavenged DPPH radicals (91.66%) than the standard antioxidant BHA (94.33, 85.19, 90.16%, respectively). Flowers of H. scabrum contain flavonoids, phenolic acids, vitamins and phytosterols, dominated by catechin, vanillic acid, vitamin K and ergosterol. The extracts exhibit a strong cytotoxic activity against MCF-7, HCT-116, and LNCaP cancer cell lines. It is found that their antimicrobial activities are higher than the standard antibiotics. These results indicate that H. scabrum flowers have potent antiradical, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities. © 2018, © 2018 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.Öğe The relationship between Saxagliptin and renal ischemia/reperfusion: A morphological approach(Wiley, 2017) Tekin, S.; Beytur, A.; Taslidere, A.; Cakir, M.; Sandal, S.[Abstract Not Available]
