Öğe Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy in Situs Inversus Totalis: a Case Report and Comprehensive Literature Review(Springer India, 2016) Yazar, Fatih Mehmet; Emre, Arif; Akbulut, Sami; Urfalioglu, Aykut; Cengiz, Emrah; Sertkaya, Mehmet; Yildiz, HuseyinThe aim of this study is to review the reliability of laparoscopic obesity operations in patients with situs inversus totalis(SIT). A new case of SIT was presented together with a literature review of published English language studies on laparoscopic gastric banding (LAGB), laparoscopic gastric bypass (LRYGB), laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), laparoscopic obesity surgery (LOS), and SIT, accessed via PubMed and Google Scholar databases. The case is presented of a 21-year-old female patient who underwent LSG due to SIT. A total of 12 publications in literature matched the search criteria for LAGB, LRYGB, LSG, LOS, and SIT, which reported LAGB in five cases, LRYGB in four cases, and LSG in four cases. In the rare event of SIT, LOS can be safely used following good evaluation.Öğe An objective evaluation of the laryngeal roof(2018) Sarica, Selman; Yurttutan, Nursel; Bilal, Nagihan; Sagiroglu, Saime; Yazar, Fatih MehmetAim: The anatomic measurements of the thyroid cartilage, which is an important part of the laryngeal roof, were calculated using computed tomography (CT) and the data obtained were compared in two groups of male and female. Material and Methods: A total of 148 adult patients were examined in this retrospective, cross-sectional study. All the patients were aged over18 year and presented to emergency ward between 2015 and 2016 due to trauma. Cervical vertebra CT was taken and the reformatted two-dimensional images were examined. Measurements were taken on the images at two separate levels of the interlaminar angle (ILA), thyroid prominence angle and the distance of the vocal cords from the lower edge of the thyroid. Results: The ILA in the glottis region was measured as 74.02°±17.23° for males and as 98.00°±12.78° for females. The difference between the genders was statistically significant (p<0.001). The distance of the vocal cords from the lower edge of the thyroid cartilage was measured as 7.12 ±2.29mm for males and 5.15±2.06mm for females. Conclusion: The results of the ILA measurements in this study were observed to be narrower in both genders than the measurements given in classic reference books. The ILA in both the regionsof glottis and supraglottiswas measured as a narrower angle in males than in females. These results show the presence of sexual dimorphism in the Kahramanmaraş region where the study was conductedÖğe The Relationship Between Hepatic Activity Index and Serum Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Levels in Patients with Chronic Active Hepatitis-B and Chronic Active Hepatitis-C(2015) Bilgiç, Yılmaz; Harputluoğlu, Muhsin Murat Muhip; Dal, Mehmet Burak; Bozan, Mehmet Buğra; Şahin, Abdurrahman; Yazar, Fatih Mehmet; Çağın, Yasir FurkanAbstract: In the present study, we investigated the relationship between serum TNF-? levels and hepatic activity in liver biopsies of chronic hepatitis B and C patients. The study was performed on 30 chronic hepatitis B patients, 25 chronic hepatitis C patients and 25 healthy controls. Serum samples of patients who underwent biopsy and healthy controls were collected. Control group was seronegative for hepatitis and had normal liver function tests. TNF- ? levels measured by ELISA. Knodell’s hepatic activity index was used in evaluation of liver biopsies. Serum TNF? levels were determined higher in chronic hepatitis B and C patients than control group. HAI and TNF- ? compared in chronic hepatitis B and C patients. Although we detected a relationship between HAI and TNF-? levels in chronic hepatitis B patients, no true correlation was shown in chronic hepatitis C patients. Cytokines have an important role in progression of chronic hepatitis B and C infections. There is a relationship between hepatic activity index and TNF-? level in chronic hepatitis B infection. But There is not relationship between hepatic activity index and chronic hepatitis C infection.only in two patients and both of them where in the middle of their reproductive age while as symptomatic ovarian cysts was a more common finding in unmarried females in 21-28 years of age group. This study concluded that laparoscopy has a diagnostic as well as a therapeutic implication in management of NSAPÖğe Use of Silver Nitrate Application as Mini-Invasive Treatment of Pilonidal Sinus Disease(Editura Celsius, 2020) Kanat, Burhan Hakan; Yazar, Fatih Mehmet; Kutluer, Nizamettin; Solmaz, Ozgen Arslan; Bozan, Mehmet Bugra; Cay, Ferhat; Eroz, ErhanObjective: To investigate the cure rate and adverse effects of silver nitrate application for treatment of pilonidal sinus disease (PSD). Methods: Number of sinus pit orifices, and complications with silver nitrate application and debridement for sacrococcygeal PSD between January 2015 and July 2018 were analyzed in this retrospective study. Data were obtained from surgical, discharge, and outpatient follow-up records. Among 56 patients who were treated with silver nitrate stick, 11 patients with incomplete hospital records were excluded from the study. Demographic data including age, gender, length of follow-up, number of silver nitrate applications, number of involved sinuses and recurrence and complication rates were recorded. Results were expressed as frequencies, means, and range of values. The Mann Whitney U and chi square tests were used to evaluate significance. Results: Mean age was 24.3 +/- 5.18 (range, 14-36) years, and recurrence occurred in 4 (8.9%) patients. Complications developed in 10 (22.2%) patients and included abscess, erythema, and necrosis in 5 (11.1%), 2 (4.4%), and 3 (6.6%) patients, respectively. The recurrence rate was significantly higher in patients who developed abscesses during the follow-up period (p=0.001) than those who did not. There was no statistically significant correlation between the recurrence rate and number of sinuses or the number of silver nitrate applications. Conclusion: Low morbidity and high healing rates achieved with silver nitrate provide support for this application as a feasible and effective conservative outpatient treatment for PSD in certain patients.
