Öğe An atypical acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy case treated with systemic steroid(2013) Güler M.; Bilgin B.; Yilmaz T.; Türkçüo?lu P.In this paper we report a case of atypical acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy patient with foveal involvement who was treated with systemic steroid. A 28 year old female patient applied to our clinic with complaint of sudden painless vision lost in her left eye for three days. Fundus examination of her left eye revealed multifocal, flat, grey-white placoid lesions primarily located in posterior pole with serous macular detachment. Her right eye was normal. Fluorescein angiography denoted bilateral involvement. Since foveal involvement was determined 1 mg/kg/day oral metilprednisolone treatment was administered. Although steroid treatment rapidly resolved serous macular detachment, it does not seem to affect markedly the natural course of the disease.Öğe Choroidal neovascularization secondary to ocular penetration during retrobulbar anesthesia and its treatment(Medknow Publications, 2017) Dikci S.; Yilmaz T.; Gök Z.; Demirel S.; Genç O.Retrobulbar anesthesia is still used before ocular surgery; however, it has various complications including ocular penetration. The penetration/perforation of the globe can cause complications such as endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, and scotoma. Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is rarely seen, following choroidal rupture in penetrating eye injuries. Here, we present a patient who underwent a pars plana vitrectomy for vitreous hemorrhage secondary to ocular penetration during a retrobulbar injection for cataract surgery. This patient later developed CNV at the penetration site during follow-up. Physicians should remember that CNV can occur as an unusual late complication of ocular penetration during retrobulbar anesthesia. © 2017 Oman Ophthalmic Society | Published by Wolters Kluwer - Medknow.Öğe Clinical Results After Removing Silicone Oil in Patients Underwent Pars Plana Vitrectomy and Silicone Oil Endotamponade Due to Diabetic Tractional Retinal Detachment(Gazi Eye Foundation, 2019) Dikci S.; Yilmaz T.; Ulucan P.B.Purpose: To evaluate the complications encountered in the postoperative period as well as anatomic results following the removal of silicone oil tamponade in patients undergoing 23 gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and silicone oil endotamponade for diabetic tractional retinal detachment. Materials and methods: Fifty-nine eyes of 54 patients who underwent surgery for diabetic tractional RD between January 2015 and April 2016 in our clinic were included in the study. The files of the cases were examined retrospectively. Age, gender, duration of silicone oil endotamponade, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), redetachment rate and other postoperative complications were evaluated. Results: 35 of the patients were female (64.8%) and 19 were male (35.2%). The mean age was 59.1 ± 10.2 (29-80) years. The preoperative mean BCVA was 0.06 ± 6.6 (0.03-0.4), while the postoperative mean BCVA was 0.10 ± 13.3 (0.03-0.7). The preoperative and postoperative mean IOP were 16.3 ± 6.04 and 14.3 ± 4.1 mmHg, respectively. The mean duration of silicone oil endotamponade was 6.8 ± 4.01 (2-24) months. Cataract surgery was performed in 31 (52.5%) patients as removing silicone oil endotamponade. Postoperative complications were transient severe hypotony in one eye (1.7%), transient hypertony in three eyes (5.08%), vitreous hemorrhage requiring surgery, hyphema and hypopyon in one eye (1.7%) and redetachment in four eyes (6.8%). Conclusion: In patients who underwent pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil endotamponade due to diabetic tractional retinal detachment, ocular hypotonia or hypertonia and vitreous hemorrhage may rarely develop, besides retinal redetachment, following removal of silicone oil endotamponade.. © 2019 Gazi Eye Foundation. Therefore, city parks gain importance for meeting people's recreational needs. City parks are public areas open to common use. Because of this characteristic, they should meet each person's need of utilizing them and have infrastructures for any preferences. Therefore, before planning and restoration of city parks, any expectation from various levels of community should be taken into consideration to constitute areas appealing to the whole society. In the present study, socio-demographic factors affecting use preferences of park users living in Antalya city were evaluated. It was found from the result of survey questionnaire conducted in the scope of the study that 86.7% of handicapped people prefer city parks for their recreational activities. Chi-square (?2), independence and chi-square (?2) Trend tests were used to determine significance level of the relationship between participants' socio-demographic characteristics and use preference of city parks. It was also determined as the result of analyses that social security and house type have statistically significant effect on use preference of city parks.Öğe Evaluation of the relationship between the characteristics of park visitors, their expectations from parks and use preference: The sample of Malatya city, Turkey(WFL Publisher Ltd., 2014) Yilmaz T.; Yilmaz B.; Atik A.; Aslan F.This study was conducted to determine the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics of park users and their aims, frequencies and length of visiting parks in the centre of Malatya city. There is a positive correlation between liveability of a city and the value city parks add to it in today's modern and planned cities. In this respect, parks are important elements of urban structures and needs for their value, service and functions they add increase day by day. As it should be in the local or global supply of all goods and services all over the world, parks should be planned taking the needs and preferences of their users depending on their service and functions. Views and preferences of city people, who are always potential city park users, have directing effects for decision makers. Such views can be determined using questionnaire surveys evaluated through statistical methods. In the present study, data obtained from questionnaire survey conducted in Malatya city centre were subjected to multidimensional statistical analyses and effects of socio-demographic characteristics of local people (city dwellers) and their statistical significance were determined.Öğe Macular injury due to aiming laser beams: Two case reports(Gazi Eye Foundation, 2017) Dikici S.; Yilmaz T.; Demirel S.; Çavdar M.; Genç O.Nowadays, lasers are used in many areas such as medicine, industry, laboratory research, entertainment and the military. Military lasers are generally used for such tasks as sensitive distance measurements and marking the targets. The retina is very sensitive to the laser beams and temporary or permanent vision loss can occur depending on the power, wavelength of the laser beams and duration of exposure. Lasers that showing photochemical, mechanical or thermal effects can lead to complications such as chorioretinal scarring, macular hole, choroidal neovascularization and preretinal membrane formation. There is not effective and proven treatment of retinopathy resulting from the laser beams, therefore it is important to avoid exposure to the laser beam. It was reported two security personel with macular injury exposed to the laser beams used in firearms and in this context it was aimed to give information about the laser and to discuss the its effects on the retina in this study. © 2017 Gazi Eye Foundation.
