Öğe An analysis of internal migrations on the basis of provinces in turkey with the performance indicators: A spatial probit model(2013) Zeren F.; Tülümce S.Y.As a controversial topic in developed and developing countries, migration has been a dynamic field explained on the basis of cause and effect by economists. Migration is the movement of people from one settlement to another. In all countries, migration occurs as the result of economic, social, and political causes. In Turkey, the migration from east to the west mostly results from regional and provincial disparities. The advancement and industrialization of western provinces in comparison to the eastern provinces is deemed a critical factor in the rise of Turkey's internal wave of migration. As a result, it became necessary to analyze the migration-triggering factors on a provincial basis. In this study, determinants of the net migration level in the NUTS 3 level of 81 provinces in Turkey for the year 2000 have been estimated by using a spatial probit model. Findings demonstrate the positive and significant effects of industrialization, welfare, and human capital on the level of net migration. Another finding of this research is that there is spatial dependence between provinces.Öğe Diaspora Marketing Revisited: The nexus of entrepreneurs and consumers(Transnational Press London Ltd, 2018) Sirkeci I.; Zeren F.In this article, we discuss the role of diaspora as a business network and an opportunity window for foreign market entry according to the concept of diaspora market entry or transnational market entry mode. As sources of information on both home and host countries, diasporas offer opportunities and enable entrepreneurs, thus serving as significant social capital resources for foreign investors. Investors may find an easy way to enter mature markets and thus, internationalise at relative ease by the facilitating effect of diaspora presence in a target market. Diasporas, among their many characteristics, are also known for growing a longing for what is "home" or "homeland". Hence, there is a demand for those products and services they used to consume prior to migration abroad (i.e. nostalgic consumption). It takes place at a crossroads of passion for national identity and nostalgic consumption. For diaspora entrepreneurs, the social capital they have means business to satisfy the "nostalgia" demand as well as expanding markets for brands from their countries of origin. © 2018 Transnational Marketing Journal.Öğe Is per capita real GDP stationary in the D-8 countries? Evidence from a panel unit root test(Peter Lang AG, 2019) Zeren F.; Işlek H.Real GDP per capita is one of the most important indicators of the wealth of nations. Hence, it is very important for economist and political decision makers to determine whether the real GDP per capita has a trend stationary or a difference stationary process. This study examines whether the real GDP per capita is stationary in the D8 countries between the years 1960-2014. For this purpose, BCIPS panel unit root test is used which was developed by Lee, Wu and Yang (2016) and uses fourier functions and considers multifactor structure. Empirical findings indicate that, real GDP per capita is stationary in multifactor situations in D8 countries. © Peter Lang AG 2019.Öğe Theory of persistent income inequality: A study for eu member states(IGI Global, 2019) Zeren F.; Kiliç M.E.Psychology stipulates justice is one of the most powerful feelings of human beings. Societies strengthen as overall justice increases. People are seeking justice in many areas. A more fair income distribution has always been desired in almost every society since the beginning of civilizations. In recent times, European countries are known to be the most fair societies, at least within their boundaries. So, taking into account these facts, what can be said about income inequality levels for EU-15? This chapter tries to find an empirical answer for this question. There is also a solution for income inequality. © 2020 by IGI Global. All rights reserved.
