In this article, the riots that occurred in England in August 2011 are analysed. Riots are the concrete reflections of anomie and social crisis. The anomic situation made up of normlessness, irregularity and ineptitude cause riots. Political left rhetoric associates the reasons of riots with degenerations in social structure such as economical crisis, poverty, public expenditure cuts, exclusion and inequality; whereas political right rhetoric associates riots with cultural decays such as moral degeneration, sick society, broken homes and poor parenting. Besides these analyses, factors such as bankrupt banks, racism, negative attitude of the police and distrust in governmental instititutions also cause riots. Such complexity of social events requires an explanation of multiple causes, of which are possibly interlinked and mutually affecting. Riots are dealt with the basis of the critics of global neoliberal system. Also, the effects of internet and social media in organizing riots have equal importance.en_US
