Gebelerin %92,8’i isteyerek gebe kaldığını bildirmiştir.
Öz:The research has been conducted analytically and cross-sectionally in order to determine the effect of body perception on weight gain during pregnancy. The universe of the research has been composed of the pregnant women who applied to a state hospital in Aydın province for follow-up. The sample has been consisted of 223pregnant women who were determined through random sampling and power analysis. The weights of pregnant women have been measured by the researchers, and "Personal Information Form" and "Body Image Scale (BAI)" have been applied. "Descriptive", "Mann-Whitney U" and "Kruskal-Wallis" tests have been used to analyze the data. 92.8% of the pregnant women have stated that that they became pregnant willingly. A statistical significance has been determined between willingness for pregnancy and the level of body perception (p<0.05). 47.1% of the pregnant women have stated that they were pleased with their current weight, 35.4% stated that they were affected negatively from the weight they gained in pregnancy. It has been detected that while 27.8% of pregnant women gained more weight than they needed during pregnancy, 35.9% of pregnant women gained less weight than necessary. It has been determined that, weight gain during pregnancy and the state of the pregnant women to be affected by weight gain created a statistically significance on body image levels (p<0.05). In conclusion, it has been evaluated that although most of the pregnant women became pregnant willingly; almost half of them were pleased with their current weight, they were affected negatively from the weight they gained in pregnancy and they had negative body perceptions for this reason.
