Özet
A new nation-state established and proclaimed Turkish Republic in 1923. It was necessary also a big transformation in social structure, and political structure of the state to survive as a independent state. To make and construct a defence system of Turkish army must have been, it needed modern technology. New republican elite was not only created such a defence system and modern technology with using his own capacities but also gave way to the civic initiativies supported by Turkish people. The Turkish Aeroplane Society which was established in 1925, provided a great deal of contribution to the Turkish Air Forces in a short time by means of launching a campaign which would supply a few hundred of airplanes. Turkish people participated in Strengthening the Turkish Air Forces campaign. People of a small but ancient and rich town of Ayvalik, in Marmara region bought in this spirit an airplane to be called Beautiful Ayvalik in accordance with their taking part in the campaign. This article examines this experience of Ayvalik people.
