Özet
The study aimed at developing a scale in order to find out opinions of undergraduates
about the art. A 36-item draft scale including different aspects of opinions about the
art was applied to 478 undergraduate students in various faculties of Karadeniz
Technical University. The data acquired were analysed in SPSS program and the
structural validity of the scale was analysed through a factor analysis. 11 items were
removed from the scale based on findings. As a result of the analysis, the scale was
found to be consisting of one factor, however the items if reviewed it can be seen than
this one-factoral construct can be presented under 2 subtitles. Cronbach’s alpha
reliability coefficient with regard to the scale developed is 0.93, as KMO (KaiserMeyer-Olkin)
value is found to be 0.93 and total variance explained coefficient is
found to be 58%. It is possible to say that the scale developed in the outcome of the
studies is both valid and reliable. Scale developed by the authors can be used to find
out opinions of the university students about art.
