Çalışmada, doğal afetlerde, tarım ve tarım dışı uygulamalarda kullanılabilecek, ekonomik açıdan yarar sağlayacak
Vetiver grass bitkisinin amacına uygun kullanımı tanıtılmaya çalışılmış ve ilgili literatürler gözden geçirilmiştir. Doğru
bitki kullanımı sürecinde; Vetiver grass bitkisinin iklim koşullarına ekolojik uyumu, bütünlüğü, estetik ve fonksiyonel
kullanımı gibi değerlere sahip olması Türkiye’ye tanıtılması gerekliliğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı,
dünyada erozyonun şiddetli olduğu benzer iklim değerleri taşıyan diğer ülkelerde erozyon önlemede başarılı sonuçlar
veren “Vetiver grass” isimli yer örtücü bitkinin tanıtımını yaparak tarım, ormancılık ve diğer sektörlere olan öncelikli
faydası ile doğal ve kültürel çevrede sağlanan yararlarını da ele almaktır.
In the study, the purposeful use of the Vetiver grass plant which can provide economic benefits through its agricultural
and non-agricultural use and during natural disasters has been introduced and related literature has been reviewed.
Characteristics of the Vetiver grass plant such its ecologic adaptability to the climatic conditions, its integrity,
aesthetical and functional use have made it necessary to be introduced in Turkey. The purpose of the study is to
introduce the Vetiver grass plant, which has yielded successful results for the prevention of erosion in countries where
erosion is severe and which carry similar climatic conditions, and to examine the benefits it has provided in agriculture,
forestry and other sectors as well as in natural and cultural environment.
