Öğe Addiction in Adolescents from Past to Present: A Bibliometric Analysis(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Tok, Yasin; Cumurcu, Hatice BirgulThis research aimed to examine the basic and conceptual structure of the research area about addiction in adolescents by examining studies in an international index (Web of Science (WoS) database: SCI-Expanded, SSCI, AHCI, ESCI) through bibliometric analysis. Research on addiction in adolescents has been examined using bibliometric analysis and mapping techniques. Accordingly, a total of 5558 studies from the WoS database were analyzed in line with the criteria for inclusion. Although there were partial decreases in some years for adolescent studies about addiction, the general progression was increasing. Regarding resource categories, first were addictive behaviors, followed by drug and alcohol dependence. Although smoking is related to substance use, it differs from other types of addiction. In addition, Internet addiction, one of the behavioral addictions, are among the strong research themes. University of Pittsburgh produced most institution-based publications, and the USA was the country with most publications and most cited publications in the world. Research about adolescent addiction focuses mostly on substance abuse/use and psychiatry disciplines. Since publications in the research area are not within the limits of Lotka's law, authors in this research area need more publication productivity for two or more publications.Öğe Evaluation of temperament and character traits of patients with severe acne(Wiley, 2020) Altunisik, Nihal; Cansel, Neslihan; Turkmen, Dursun; Ucuz, Ilknur; Cumurcu, Hatice BirgulBackground Acne vulgaris (AV) is an inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit. The relationship between personality and acne development has not been fully explained, and to the best of our knowledge, there are a limited number of studies in the literature evaluating temperament and character traits of individuals with acne. Aim The aim of this study is to evaluate temperament-character traits of individuals with severe acne and to compare them with healthy controls. Patients/Methods This study was conducted on 51 patients who admitted to the dermatology outpatient clinic with complaint of acne and were diagnosed with severe AV and 47 healthy individuals, as a control group. All individuals included in the study participated voluntarily. The forms including sociodemographic data, clinical information, and Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) scores were applied to the patient and control groups. Results The scores of scales/subscales of exploration (NS1), persistence (P), responsibility (S1), purposefulness (S2), resourcefulness (S3), self-acceptance (S4), enlightened 2nd nature (S5), self-directedness (S), integrated conscience (C5), and cooperativeness (C) were statistically significantly lower, and the scores of scales/subscales of worry and pessimism (HA1), fear of uncertainty (HA2), shyness (HA3), fatiguability (HA4), and harm avoidance (HA) were statistically significantly higher in the patient group, in comparison with the control group. Conclusions When we evaluated the patients with severe acne in terms of temperament and character features, we concluded that individuals' feeling of discomfort about their appearance may cause them to be less sociable, more anxious, and to have low resourcefulness and virtues.Öğe Investigation of the relationship between adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and reinforcement sensiti(Klinik Psikiyatri Dergisi, 2024) Zayman, Esra Porgali; Unal, Suheyla; Cumurcu, Hatice Birgul; Ozcan, Ozlem Ozel; Bilici, Rabia; Zayman, ErsahObjective: It is known that adult ADHD coexistence is high in patients with substance use disorder (SUD). With the prediction that the Behavioral Activation System (BAS) and Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS), which Gray suggested to underlie motivated behavior, may be effective in these two psychopathological conditions, this study investigated the relationship between BIS/DAS dimensions and ADHD symptoms in substance abusers. Method: The study included 91 male patients over the age of 18 diagnosed with substance use disorder according to DSM-5 who were admitted to the AMATEM outpatient clinic of Elazig Mental Health and Diseases Hospital for outpatient treatment and 99 male healthy controls with similar sociodemographic characteristics. Participants were given a form in which sociodemographic and substance use questions were asked and Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder SelfScale (BIS/BAS). Results: In our study, the prevalence of adult ADHD among substance abusers was found to be 10.1%. When the groups were compared according to the scale scores, a statistically significant difference was found between the individuals with substance use disorder and the control group according to BIS-anxiety, FFFSfear, WURS scale scores and total ASRS scores. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that in substance abusers, an attention by increasing the sense of pleasure rather than hyperactivity that impulsivity may provide.
