The study is conducted in descriptive – survey model. The sample of the study includes 542 students from 13 schools selected from lower, middle and upper socioeconomic environment, in the city center of Şanlıurfa. There is not a significant difference between students’ attitudes according to socioeconomic environment of the school, their genders, their father’s educational background, gender of Social Studies Teacher who conducts lessons and the materials used in the Social Studies course. On the other hand, there is a significant difference according to their class levels, mothers’ educational background, monthly family income and having an additional supportive training for Social Studies course outside the school. Finally the study showed that there is a low, but positive and statistically significant relation between Students’ attitudes toward Social Studies course and their academic success.Öğe The second Level of primary school students’ attitudes toward social sciences course and the relationship between their attitudes and academic success(2012) Şimşek, Hüseyin; Demir, AliAbstract:Bu araştırmanın amacı ilköğretim II. kademe öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine yönelik tutumları ve öğrencilerin tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırma betimsel-tarama modeliyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 2010-2011 eğitim-öğretim yılı 1. dönemde, Şanlıurfa Merkez ilçedeki alt, orta ve üst sosyo-ekonomik çevrede bulunan toplam 13 okulda öğrenim gören toplam 542 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular, ilköğretim II. Kademe öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarının genel olarak orta düzeyde olduğunu göstermiştir. Öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumları, okulun bulunduğu bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyine, öğrencilerin cinsiyetine, babanın eğitim düzeyine, Sosyal Bilgiler dersine giren öğretmenin cinsiyetine ve Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde kullanılan materyal durumuna göre anlamlı farklılık göstermezken, okudukları sınıf ve anne eğitim düzeyi, ailenin aylık geliri ve okul dışında Sosyal bilgiler Dersiyle ilgili ilave destek alma değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar göstermiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasında düşük düzeyde, pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu bulunmuştur.Öğe Serum soluble TWEAK levels in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(2019) Asil, Mehmet; Demir, Ali; Unver, Nurcan; Polat, Hakki; Ataseven, Huseyin; Uysal, Saliha; Kayar, Yusuf; Keskin, Muharrem; Yolacan, Ramazan; Biyik, Murat; Dertli, RamazanAim: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease. The exact pathogenesis of NAFLD has not been fully elucidated. Tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) is a member of TNF superfamily and it has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several diseases including liver inflammation and fibrosis. Current study was conducted to evaluate serum sTWEAK levels in patients with NAFLD.Material and Methods: Seventeen patients with biopsy proven non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), 22 patients with simple hepatosteatosis and 30 healthy controls were included in the study and serum sTWEAK concentrations were measured using commercial ELISA kits. Results: Mean serum sTWEAK concentration was significantly lower in the NASH group when compared to the simple hepatosteatosis group and healthy controls (199.6±101.2 pg/mL, 246.1±65.7 pg/mL and 277.6±117.6 pg/mL respectively, p=0.029). ROC analyses for sTWEAK to differentiate NASH patients from healthy controls and from simple hepatosteatosis revealed that AUC for sTWEAK was 0.712 (%95 CI, 0.543-0.880). For the specified cut off value, 171.1 pg/mL positive and negative predictive values calculated were 64.3% and 85.5% respectively. Conclusion: Serum sTWEAK concentration is decreasedin patients with NASH when compared to patients with simple hepatosteatosis and healthy controls.
