Öğe The effects of 8 week exercise program on reaction time performance of hearing impaired students at 11-14 years of age(E D P Sciences, 2017) Ozdemir, Mehmet; Tanir, Halil; Ilkim, Mehmet; Ozmaden, MuratThis research is aiming to investigate the effects of 8-week exercise program on reaction time performance of hearing impaired students at 11-14 years of age. 32 students (n=16 girls and n=16 males) aged between 11-14 years in the Malatya Aksemseddin Secondary School for Hearing Impaired Students were participated in the study by the consent of their parents. The students were divided into 2 groups as athletes (n=8 girls and n=8 boys) and sedantary students (n=8 girls and n=8 boys). The athlete students are engaged in activities like Turning to the front with the basketball ball with the ball and taking the pass, walking on the balance instrument which is 30 cm wide and 3 m long, making slight left and right bounces, 10 m short distance runnings, short distance rusting with a handball ball, throwing the basketball ball up about 2 m with a light, Sedantery students have not been subjected to any work during this period. The reaction time performances of all students participating in the 8 week were determined before and after workout program by the REACTION TIME HUBBARD - HAP brand device. It was determined that there was a significant difference between athletes and sedentary students in favor of the athletes in terms of pre-test and post-test results according to reaction time performance (p<0.05).To sum up it was found that the exercise program which was done for 3 days a week for 8 weeks, enhanced the reaction performance of hearing-impaired students aged 11-14 years.Öğe Effects of Swimming on the Body Composition of Individuals with Down Syndrome: A Systematic Review(Anadolu Univ, 2022) Sekban, Gulsah; Stojanovic, Stefan; Ilkim, Mehmet; Ilbak, Ismail; Jorgic, BojanIn the literature, it has been determined that various training models are applied to optimize the body health and body composition of individuals with Down Syndrome (DS). Although it has been reported in review studies that many training models are effective in improving the body health and body composition of individuals with DS, there is no consensus among researchers about how swimming exercises affect the body health and body composition of individuals with DS. In this context, the aim of the research is to reach a conclusion by utilizing the studies examining the effects of swimming on the body compositions of individuals with DS. This research was designed using the systematic review method and findings were obtained through this method. A total of 8689 articles were found in the search made on Web of Science and Google Scholar databases, and as a result of the evaluation made within the scope of the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the research, 8 articles were included in the research. As a result of the research findings, it has been concluded that there is no consensus among researchers about the effects of swimming on the body composition of individuals with DS, and also that very few studies have been conducted on this subject. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct more research on this subject.Öğe Evaluation of some physical and motoric characteristics of athletes with down syndrome(E D P Sciences, 2017) Ilkim, Mehmet; Ozdemir, Mehmet; Tanir, HalilThe aim of this study was to evaluate some physical and motoric characteristics of Down's syndrome athletes. The sample of the study consists of 60 athletes (n=30 experimetal group and n=30 control group) who are in the Malatya Sessiz Adimlar Sports Club, aged between 13 and 15. Athletes in the experimental group were subjected to a training program to improve the balance and flexibility of 2 hours of 3 days a week for 8 weeks. The athletes, in the control group continued their usual training programs. Before and after the 8-week training program that is applicated for the athletes in the experimental group, the balance and flexibility performances of the athletes in both the experimental and control groups were determined. It was used the flamingo balance test to determine the balance performance of the athletes; was used Sit & Reach test to determine flexibility performance. In favor of the athletes who are in experimental group a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) obtained between pre-test and post-test results that is applicated to determine the balance performance from statistical analysis however no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) obtained between pre-test and post-test results that is applicated to determine the flexibility performance. It was also found that there was no relationship (p>0.05) between the BMI values of the athletes and their balance and flexibility performances. In the study, it was found that the training program for 8 week training to improve balance and flexibility that was applied to dealing with athleticism 13-15 age group athletes with down syndrome improved the athletes' balance performance but did not contribute to the their improvement of flexibility performances.Öğe EVALUATION OF SPORTS AWARENESS OF PARENTS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM ATTENDING TO SPORTS CLUBS(Int Journal Lifescience & Pharma Research, 2021) Ilkim, Mehmet; Ozoglu, Fatma; Kalayci, Metin CanThis study aimed to examine the awareness of the sport for the parents of individuals with autism attending to sports clubs in terms of various demographic variables. In line with the stated purpose, this research was conducted following the scanning model in the quantitative research type. The population of the sports clubs in Turkey ongoing autism research while creating individuals with parents; the sample consisted of parents with autism, aged between 26 (years) and 64 (years) in Malatya, and attending sports clubs, 15 men and 22 women. The Demographic Variables Information Form was prepared by the researchers following the purpose of the research and the Sports Faculty Scale developed by Uyar and Sunay (2020) was used as the main data collection tool in the study. The analysis of the data was done using the SPSS 15.0 statistics package program. The normality distribution of the data was determined with the Shapiro-Wilk Normality Test. Differences between independent groups were determined by independent sample T-test and one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA). Statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05. According to the statistical analysis results; a significant difference was found in the sports awareness level values of the parents of individuals with autism who attend sports clubs, according to their gender, educational status, their participation in sports, their interest in sports, and the presence of individuals engaged in sports in their families. (p<0.05). It can be said that male parents of an individual with autism who attend sports clubs may have higher levels of sports awareness than female parents. It can be said that higher education graduate parents of an individual with autism who attend sports clubs may have higher levels of sports awareness than parents with only secondary education and only primary education graduates with an individual with autism attending sports clubs. It can be said that parents who have an individual with autism who attend sports clubs and who show an interest in sports as a participant may have higher levels of sports awareness than parents with an individual with autism who attend sports clubs and show an interest in sports as a viewer. It can be said that parents of an individual with autism who attend sports clubs and individuals who are engaged in sports in their families, may also have higher levels of sports awareness than parents who have an individual with autism who attend sports clubs and do not have an individual engaged in sports in their family.Öğe EXAMINATION OF EXERCISE IN INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND INQUIRY SKILLS OF STUDENTS IN SPORTS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT(Int Journal Lifescience & Pharma Research, 2021) Ilkim, Mehmet; Mergan, BarisThis study aims to examine the exercise in individuals with disabilities and inquiry skills of students in the sports education department. The research was conducted using quantitative research methods. The analysis of the data was analyzed in the SPSS 22.00 program. While there were no significant differences between the sub-scale dimensions depending on the gender and age variables of the students participating in the study, significant differences were found depending on the variable of doing sports.Öğe Investigation Of Attitudes Of Pre-Service Teachers Of Exercise And Sports Education For Disabilities Towards Children With Mental Disabilities(Lahore Medical Research Center Llp, 2021) Ilkim, Mehmet; Mergan, Baris; Karadag, Haci; Ruzgar, KerimBackground: Aim: This study aimed to determine the attitudes of pre -service teachers who study at Inonu University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Department of Exercise and Sports Education for the Disabilities, towards mentally disabled children. Methods: The Attitudes of Physical Education and Sports Teacher Candidates Towards Mentally Handicapped Children scale was used to collect the research data. The universe of the study consists of 200 students studying at the sports science faculty of Inonu University, in the department of exercise and sports education for the disabilities. The sample of the study consists of 136 students randomly selected from the given universe. Results: According to the findings of the study, no statistically significant difference was found between the attitudes of physical education teachers according to the gender, age, class variable, and the status of having a disabled person attitudes towards mentally disabled children. In the research general survey model was used. Participants consisted of 98 volunteer students who were selected according to the random sampling method studying in the Department of Exercise and Sport Education for Disabled People at Malatya Inonu University Faculty of Sport Sciences. In the research The Attitude Scale for E-learning was used. The data analysis of the research was carried out in SPSS 22.0 statistics package program for Windows. Normality distribution was done by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test. Differences between groups were determined using independent sample t-test (Independent Samples T-Test) and one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) and Post-Hoc LSD tests. Significance was accepted as (p <0.05). As a result of the research, it has been observed that the attitudes of the students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences towards distance education have significant differences according to gender, regular internet access status, the environment of attending classes, discomfort while listening to courses and finding distance education useful. The results of the research revealed that the students found the distance education applied in COVID-19 period beneficial.Öğe INVESTIGATION OF THE SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE FEATURES OF PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED BADMINTON PLAYERS IN TERMS OF VARIOUS VARIABLEs(Int Journal Lifescience & Pharma Research, 2021) Ozsari, Arif; Ilkim, MehmetWith this research, the spiritual intelligence characteristics of physically handicapped badminton players were examined in terms of various variables. The population of the study included 57 athletes who participated in the Physically Handicapped Badminton Championship of Turkey, and the sample group consisted of 31 physically handicapped badminton players, with an average age of (30.61 +/- 11.74), who voluntarily accepted to participate in this study. The demographic form containing personal information and the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory developed by King (2008) and adapted to Turkish by Seyfi (2016) was used in the data collection. As a result, significant changes were determined in the spiritual intelligence characteristics of physically handicapped badminton players according to gender, age, duration of sportsmanship, and marital status factors. It is possible to say that the spiritual intelligence scores were more prominent for married athletes compared to those who were not married, for older athletes compared to younger ones, and for male athletes compared to female athletesÖğe Mental Training and Anxiety: Examining the Moderating Role of Gender in Athletes(Univ Illes Balears, 2024) Duyani, Mehdi; Celik, Talip; Karatas, Ozgiir; Ilkim, Mehmet; Karatas, Emine ortiirk; Yavuz, Cumaali; Dogar, YahyaThis study aimed to examine how gender may influence the relationship between mental training practices and anxiety levels in both individual and team athletes. Using a quantitative approach, data was gathered through convenience sampling using electronically administered questionnaires. A grand total of 348 athletes from secondary school, high school, and university teams in individual and team sports across four Turkish provinces took part in the event. The Mental Training Scale developed by Behnke et al. (2019) was used to evaluate mental training practices, while the Sports Anxiety Scale -2, created by Smith et al. (2006) and Smith, Smoll and Schutz (1990), was used to gauge levels of anxiety. The data analysis included various statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha for assessing scale reliability, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis to explore variable relationships, and bootstrap regression analysis to investigate the potential moderating effect of gender. The results showed that the predictor variables together explained about 9% of the variation in anxiety (R-2 = .084). There was a noteworthy correlation between mental training practices and anxiety, with mental training practices showing a beneficial impact beta = .30, p < .05). Additionally, gender was found to have a significant influence in a positive direction beta = 1.58, p < .001). In addition, a noteworthy moderating effect was found, suggesting that gender plays a role in the connection between mental training and anxiety beta = -.37, p < .001). It appears that female athletes on school teams are more inclined to incorporate mental training practices into their routines, leading to better anxiety management compared to male athletes who do not engage in such practices.Öğe Quality of Life Gains for Special Athletes in the Turkish Athletics Championship: A Study on Parent Perspectives (2023)(Univ Illes Balears, 2024) Karadag, Haci; Karata, Ozgiir; Dogar, Yahya; Ilkim, Mehmet; Yavuzs, Cumaali; Celik, Talip; Karatas, Emine OztiirkThis study examines the effects of sports involvement on the well-being of individuals with Down Syndrome who participated in the 2022 Turkish Athletics Championship, as reported by their parents. The championship was organised by the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation. Using a qualitative case study design, we thoroughly explore individual experiences, perceptions, and the current situation. Criterion sampling, a method of purposeful sampling, was employed to select participants. The participants were selected using purposive criterion sampling. Information on life changes for the athletes was gathered through semi -structured interviews, which were later transcribed and analysed using content analysis. Five main themes were identified: Physical Development, Social Development, Emotional Development, Psycho -Social Health, and Family Life Satisfaction. The focus was on highlighting the enhancements in family dynamics, shared experiences, and the overall well-being of the family. The study demonstrates that engagement in the championship had a significant impact on the athletes' overall well-being and family satisfaction, underscoring the importance of sports in their lives.Öğe Turkey's Sports Success Assessment in The World Para Taekwondo Championships(Lahore Medical Research Center Llp, 2021) Karaaslan, Hediye; Ilkim, Mehmet; Ozdemir, ZehraAim: In this study, it is aimed to contribute to the literature by analyzing the success of Turkey participating in the Para Taekwondo World Championships. Methods: In the study, Turkey's success over the years, which participated in the World Para Taekwondo Championships, the first of which was held in 2009 and the last in 2019, has been made. For this purpose, tables were created by using document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. Results: In the findings section, an evaluation was made by tabulating the years the championships were held and the number of participants in Turkey, the number of medals won and the world rankings of these years .As a result of the research, it was found that with the increasing number of participants in each championship, there was an increase in the number of medals won. Conclusion: In the conclusion part, with the call of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)'s 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program Sports Research, attention was drawn to the project studies aimed at improving disabled athletes and sports for the disabled. It was emphasized that research and project studies on para taekwondo branch could increase the number of elite athletes and thus the successes in the international World Para Taekwondo Championships could be continued increasingly.
