Öğe Akademisyenlerin Akademik Etik Algılarının Değerlendirilmesi: Kesitsel Bir Analiz(İnönü Üniversitesi, 2024) Özbek Güven, Gamze; Kaynak, Sibel; Karataş, MehmetThis study aims to evaluate the academic ethics percep- tion of academics at a state university and to examine how this percep- tion is shaped according to various variables. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted at a state university in Türkiye be- tween September and December 2023. The sample consisted of 126 academics working in different professional positions and volunteer- ing for the study. Data were collected using Personal Information Form and Academic Ethical Values Scale. 38.9% of the participants were fe- male and 61.1% were male, and there was no significant difference in academic ethical values scores according to gender (p>0.05). The mean academic ethical values of the academicians was 206.1±21.73 and their attitudes were evaluated positively. The highest score was found in the sub-dimensions of “values related to the teaching process” (62.16±6.53) and the lowest score was found in the sub-dimensions of “values re- lated to society” (29.25±2.32). Age positively affected scientific re- search values (p<0.05) and negatively affected teaching process values (p<0.05). Differences were observed in ethical values according to aca- demic titles and clinical experience (p<0.05). This study contributes to the understanding of the relationships between perception of academic ethics and various variables. The findings are valuable for identifying and implementing strategies to increase ethical awareness.Öğe Evaluation of the ethics perception of academics in Inonu University faculty of medicine(2022) Kaynak, Sibel; Karatas, MehmetThis research was carried out to evaluate the ethics perception of academics working at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine. This is a descriptive study. The universe of the research consisted of 440 academics (Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Research Assistants) working at Malatya İnönü University Faculty of Medicine. The sample size of the study was determined as 120 using power analysis. In total, 123 individuals were reached. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews with academics between July and October 2021, using the Personal Information Form and the Academic Ethics Scale. In the evaluation of the data, descriptive statistics and Kolmogorov Smirnov Test, the Levene test, the Mann Whitney Test, ANOVA, the Duncan test, and the Kruskal Wallis test were used. Any p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. It was found that 47.2% of the participants were research assistants, 50.4% worked for more than 5 years, 34.1% were between the ages of 31 and 40 years, 65% had clinical experience, 74% had national publications, 73.2% of them had sufficient knowledge about academic ethics (per their statements), 69.9% of them would notify authorities in case of unethical behavior, and 14.6% of them faced ethical violations. The participants' average perception of ethical values was 196.76 ± 16.27 [max: 260; Min: 155]. It was found that there was no significant difference between the ethical perception of the academics working at İnönü University, Faculty of Medicine, and gender and the types of ethical violations faced. However, when age, clinical experience, and tenure were grouped under the Academic Ethical Values Scale sub-dimensions, there were significant differences. It was also determined that there were significant differences between the status of complaining about unethical behavior, title, knowledge about academic ethics, and having a national/international publication.Öğe İnönü Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'ndeki akademisyenlerin etik algısının değerlendirilmesi(İnönü Üniversitesi, 2022) Kaynak, Sibel; Karataş, MehmetAmaç: Bu araştırma İnönü Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'nde görev yapmakta olan akademisyenlerin etik algısının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. The earthquake disaster that struck our country in 2023 vividly demonstrated the challenging impact of such events, which can turn lives upside down and compel us to question the notion of a good death. This study aims to determine the perceptions of a good death and the levels of trauma experienced by physicians and nurses who directly witnessed the earthquake disaster, and to understand the relationship between these factors. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted between October 1 and December 31, 2023, using phone interviews facilitated by a web-based Google form. Data were collected from 560 healthcare professionals (280 nurses and 280 doctors) working in hospitals located in Kahramanmara & scedil;, Hatay, Malatya, and Ad & imath;yaman provinces in Turkiye, which were directly impacted by the earthquake of February 6, 2023, and who consented to participate in the study. Trauma levels were assessed using the Post-Earthquake Trauma Level Determination Scale, and perceptions of a good death were evaluated using the Good Death Scale (GDS). Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 and AMOS 24 software. Normal distribution was checked with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test. Independent t-tests were used to compare independent binary groups, Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between scale scores, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of the scales (Good Death Scale: 0.931; Trauma Scale: 0.957). Structural equation modeling and multi-group analysis were conducted to examine the relationship between scale scores according to the profession variable. Findings The mean score for the perception of a good death was found to be 52.76 +/- 8.77 for physicians and 55.84 +/- 9.63 for nurses. A statistically significant difference was detected between physicians and nurses in the psychosocial spirituality, personal control, and clinical sub-dimensions of the scale (p<0.05). The mean trauma scores were 56.81 +/- 17.58 for physicians and 64.82 +/- 18.56 for nurses. A significant difference was found in the trauma scale and its sub-dimensions (excitement limitation, emotional, cognitive restructuring, sleep problems) (p<0.05). It was observed that higher trauma levels positively influenced good death perception scores. Conclusion This study reveals that healthcare workers are deeply affected psychologically by major disasters, with high levels of trauma. A significant relationship was found between trauma levels and perceptions of a good death. These findings provide an important basis for future research to understand how trauma shapes the lives and job performance of healthcare workers in the long term.
