Öğe Antioxidant and Antimicrobial activity of Scorzonera papposa collected from Iraq and Turkey(Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam Univ Rektorlugu, 2020) Mohammed, Falah Saleh; Gunal, Salami; Sabik, Ali Erdem; Akgul, Hasan; Sevindik, MustafaPlants are important natural materials used in complementary medicine. In this study, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Scorzonera papposa DC. collected from Duhok (Iraq) and Gaziantep (Turkey) regions were determined. Extracts of aerial parts and roots of the plant with ethanol were obtained. Antioxidant and oxidant potentials were determined by using Rel Assay Diagnostics kits. Antimicrobial activities were tested against bacteria and fungus strains using the agar dilution method. In our study, it was determined that S. papposa has important antioxidant activity. Also, It was found that extracts of plant parts were effective at 50-800 mu g/mL concentrations. As a result, it was determined that S. papposa could be a natural antioxidant and antimicrobial agent that can be used in complementary medicine.Öğe Determination of Mineral Content and Antimicrobial Activity of Natural and Cultural Forms of Pleurotus ostreatus(Kastamonu Univ, Orman Fak, 2016) Sevindik, Mustafa; Akgul, Hasan; Gunal, Selami; Dogan, MuhittinIn this study, Pleurotus ostreatus Jacq. ex. Fr., which are collected from Gaziantep and its culture form that are sold in stores are used as material. Antimicrobial activity of ethanol extract of P. ostreatus is determined by agar dilution method. Also, mineral composition of P. ostreatus are determined in atomic absorption spectrometry by wet digestion method. The aim of the study is to detect and compare both mineral content and antimicrobial activity of natural and cultural forms of P. ostreatus. In the studies, the fungus has been shown to have low antimicrobial activity. It is said to be higher than the natural form of mineral metal levels.Öğe Macrofungi determined in Yuvacik Basin (Kocaeli) and its close environs(Kastamonu Univ, Orman Fak, 2018) Akata, Ilgaz; Kabaktepe, Sanli; Sevindik, Mustafa; Akgul, HasanAim of the study: The purpose of this study was to determine the macrofungal diversity of Yuvacik Basin (Kocaeli) and its close environs. Study area: The study area is situated in the east part of Marmara region within the boundaries of Kocaeli and Sakarya provinces of Turkey and it covers 25.759 hectares. The altitude range of region is 150-1610 meters. In addition, the region is in the transition zones of the three different phytogeographic regions containing the Euro-Siberian, the Mediterranean and Irano-Turanian Material and Method: The fungal samples were collected from different localities of Yuvacik Basin and its close environs between 2015 and 2017. During field studies, macroscopic and ecological features of the samples were recorded and they were photographed in their natural habitats and then brought to the labratory. In the labaratory, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the samples were examined. After obtaining relevant macroscopic and microscopic data, fungal samples were identified. The identified samples were kept at the herbarium of Ankara University (ANK). Main Results: As a result of field and laboratory studies, a total of 140 species belonging to 44 family and 14 order within the 2 divisions were listed. Among them, 13 species belonged to Ascomycota, 127 to Basidiomycota. Research highlights: In this study, macrofungal diversity of Yuvacik Basin and its close environs were determined. One hundred and thirty-nine species were new for the region. Moreover, edible and poisonous macrofungi species were emphasized.Öğe Phenolic Content, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Potential of Endemic Ferulago platycarpa(Gazi Univ, 2020) Mohammed, Falah Saleh; Gunal, Selami; Pehlivan, Mustafa; Dogan, Muhittin; Sevindik, Mustafa; Akgul, HasanIn this study, biological activities and phenolic contents of endemic Ferulago platycarpa Boiss. & Bal. were determined. Within the scope of biological activity, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant and oxidant status of plant extracts were determined. Phenolic contents were determined by using HPLC. Antimicrobial activity was determined against bacteria and fungus strains using the modified agar method. Antioxidant and oxidant status were calculated with Rel Assay kits. Gallic, chlorogenic, cinnamic, syringic acids, epicatechin, catechin and quercetin were found in the plant. It was also determined that the plant has antioxidant and antimicrobial potential. But, because of higher TOS value, it was considered that the plants, which were collected from region suitable for OSI value, could be a natural antioxidant source.Öğe Pleurotus ostreatus'un Doğal ve Kültür Formlarının Antimikrobiyal Aktiviteleri ve Mineral Madde İçeriklerinin Belirlenmesi(Kastamonu Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Dergisi, 2016) Sevindik, Mustafa; Akgül, Hasan; Günal, Selami; Doğan, MuhittinÖz: Bu çalışmada Pleurotus ostreatus Jacq. ex.
