Öğe The criterias that are practised in European Union countries during transition to higher education(2008) Tok H.; Aribaş S.Turkey is confronted with the pressure of the demand to higher education as EU countries are. This high demand caused by various social factors has been a critical problem in Turkey. Nowadays, the higher education system is in an intensive effort in order to, on one hand, meet the increasing demand to higher education, on the other hand, give more qualified education at specialization level. In the process of EU conformity, certainly, the changes carried out in every social systems and conformity studies appear in education institutions as well. In this study, the function of secondary education and the scales used for entering to higher education are discussed within the ten member counties of European Union-Germany, Denmark, France, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.Öğe The effects of traditional instruction and powerpoint presentation- supported instruction on student's achievement(2008) Akdag M.; Tok H.This study was carried out to determine the effects of instruction done by traditional instruction methods and computer- supported PowerPoint presentation in teaching on students' achievement. The study was carried out in Education Faculty of Inönü University during the spring term of 2002-2003 academic year. In the study, pretest/ post- test experimental design with nonequivalent control group was used. The Department of Social Studies Teacher Training selected randomly was defined as the experimental group and the Department of Pre-School Teacher Training was defined as the control group. PowerPoint lecture material consisted of 17 slides. Independent groups t- test was used in the statistical analyses. Between the experimental and the control group, students' post- test and achievement scores, significant differences were found in favor of the experimental group in which PowerPoint presentation - supported instruction was used.
