The people of Anatolia, who have harbored and given life to a great cultural wealth in every aspect of daily life, gave particular importance to folk songs, which are considered as one of the best and most direct expressions of the emotions and thoughts of people living within a certain culture. In this respect, the region of Arguvan is one of the leading places in Turkey where the importance given to music by the people of Anatolia can be felt, and where the cultural, artistic and religious aspects of music are very prominent. With its own regional rendition techniques, and with the spiritual meaning given to its folk songs, the region of Arguvan possesses a very unique and authentic music culture. The aim of this study was to examine the music culture of the region of Arguvan. Rather than using a mixed study design, this study mainly relied on qualitative study methods. Concerning the study subject; written and digital sources relating to the local folk music culture were reviewed, methodological analyses were performed on existing musical works, interviews were performed, and observations were conducted. Some of the results obtained based on study findings can be listed and summarized as follows: In the region of Arguvan, folk music is categorized into two groups as the "?çeri Makam" and "Dişari Makam". The "?çeri Makam" is used for folk songs on religious subjects, while the "Dişari Makam" is used for folk songs on earthly subjects. One of the most notable characteristic of the region - which, in fact, distinguished it from the rest of the country - was the dialects and the lyrics used in the region have unmetered folk songs.en_US
